Youth Month Reflection: A Personal Challenge to Every South African
As we commemorate Youth Month, let us pause and reflect on the reality facing millions of young people across our country.
Youth unemployment and unemployability remain among the greatest challenges of our time. Behind every statistic is a young person with dreams, potential, and aspirations, yet many continue to face barriers to meaningful opportunities.
The responsibility to address this crisis does not belong to government alone. It belongs to all of us—as parents, community members, faith leaders, educators, business people, professionals, and active citizens.
Each of us has the ability to make a difference by mentoring, creating opportunities, sharing skills, supporting entrepreneurship, or simply encouraging a young person to keep believing in their future.
The question is not whether the challenge exists. The question is:
What role am I playing in helping to build a future where young people can thrive?
This Youth Month, let us move beyond commemoration and commit ourselves to action.
