📖 Scripture: Proverbs 18:21 (NKJV)

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.”

Inspiration: Your words have the power to build confidence or destroy it, restore hope or deepen despair, strengthen relationships or break them apart. Never use your tongue as a weapon against someone who trusts you. Speak encouragement where there is discouragement, hope where there is despair, and truth with love. Remember, the words you release today may shape someone's tomorrow.

🙏 Prayer: Lord, help me to use my words responsibly. May my tongue become an instrument of life, healing, encouragement, and hope. Remove every tendency to speak out of anger, bitterness, or pride. Let my words reflect Your love and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Inspiration: Words can either wound a person's spirit or restore their hope. Never underestimate the power of a kind word, a sincere apology, or a message of encouragement. Someone around you may be silently fighting a battle that you know nothing about. Let your words become a source of healing, not pain. Choose to speak life, even when life is difficult.

🙏 Prayer: Lord, make my words instruments of healing and encouragement. Help me to speak with compassion, comfort the brokenhearted, and restore hope where discouragement has taken root. May my tongue reflect Your love and grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

GUARD YOUR MOUTH: THE POWER OF DISCIPLINED SPEECH

📖 Scripture: Proverbs 13:3 (NKJV)

“He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.”

1\. Introduction: Your Tongue Is a Powerful Instrument

Beloved, one of the greatest battles we face in life is not controlling other people; it is controlling ourselves, especially our tongues.

The Book of Proverbs reminds us that the person who guards their mouth protects their life. Why? Because words are powerful. They can build trust or destroy it, restore relationships or break them, encourage the discouraged or deepen someone's pain.

You can recover from many mistakes, but the consequences of careless words may remain long after the moment has passed.

2\. Wisdom Means Knowing What Not to Say

Not everything you think must be spoken. Not everything you hear must be repeated. And not every accusation deserves a response.

Sometimes, silence is wisdom. Sometimes, walking away is maturity. And sometimes, refusing to participate in gossip is the greatest demonstration of integrity.

Before you speak, ask yourself three questions:

* Is it true?

* Is it necessary?

* Will it build or destroy?

Remember, maturity is not measured by how much you say, but by how wisely you speak.

3\. Let Your Words Reflect Your Character

As Christians, our speech must reflect the character of Christ. We cannot claim to love God while using our tongues to humiliate others, spread division, or destroy reputations.

Let your words bring healing where there is pain, peace where there is conflict, and hope where there is discouragement.

A disciplined tongue is evidence of a disciplined spirit.

Conclusion

Beloved, you may not control what people say about you, but you can control what comes out of your mouth. Guard your tongue, protect your character, and use your words to glorify God.

Inspiration: You do not have to figure everything out alone. Sometimes, the wisdom you need is found in the advice you have been too proud to seek. Before making important decisions, seek godly counsel.

*THE WISDOM OF LISTENING TO COUNSEL*

Scripture: Proverbs 12:15 (NKJV)

“The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise.”

Beloved in Christ,

One of the greatest dangers in life is believing that we are always right. When a person thinks that their own opinion is always correct, they close the door to wisdom, correction, and growth.

The Bible tells us that “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes.” This does not mean that a person who makes a mistake is a fool. It means that foolishness begins when we refuse to listen, learn, or accept correction because we believe we know everything.

Sometimes, God sends wisdom through a friend, a family member, a spiritual leader, or even someone younger than us. The question is: Are we humble enough to listen?

You can be educated and still need advice. You can be a leader and still need guidance. You can be experienced and still make mistakes. Greatness is not demonstrated by knowing everything; it is demonstrated by being willing to learn.

The second part of the Scripture says, “But he who heeds counsel is wise.” A wise person does not accept every opinion blindly, but carefully considers godly counsel, weighs it against the Word of God, and has the humility to change when necessary.

Remember this: Correction is not always rejection; sometimes, it is God's instrument for redirection.

Do not allow pride to destroy what wisdom could preserve. Before making that decision, listen. Before reacting in anger, seek counsel. Before assuming you are right, examine your heart.

Today, may we become people who are not only willing to speak but also willing to listen.
