THE DUAL COMMANDMENT OF LOVE

God gave His commandments out of love for humanity. They reveal His will and guide us in living a life that honours Him while promoting peace, unity, and healthy relationships with others.

As believers, we are called to obey God's commandments not out of fear of punishment, but out of love, gratitude, and faith in Him.

Jesus summarized all God's commandments into two great commandments: Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbour as yourself.

These two commandments form the foundation of Christian living and encompass the entire law and teachings of the prophets.

Our love for God is rooted in the fact that He first loved us. Loving God requires wholehearted devotion, trust, obedience, and a sincere desire to align our thoughts, words, and actions with His will.

The commandment to love our neighbour challenges us to treat every person with kindness, respect, mercy, and compassion. Through the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus taught that our neighbour is not limited to family, friends, or those who are like us.

Rather, our neighbour is anyone in need and anyone whose path crosses ours. This love even extends to our enemies, reflecting the perfect love of our Heavenly Father.
