Sermon Title: An Introduction And Overview Sermon of Ecclesiastes
Text: Ecclesiastes 1

Sermon Theme
We live in a fallen world. We know that God is sovereign, wise, good, and righteous, yet we often struggle to understand His providence. We see faithful Christians suffer, wicked people prosper, hard work fail, and injustice goes unanswered. Ecclesiastes does not ignore these realities; it teaches us how to live faithfully and trust God even when we cannot fully understand His ways.

Today, as we begin, we will consider three foundational truths:
1. The Preacher and His Message.
2. The Problem of life under the sun.
3. The Purpose of Ecclesiastes.

Our Main Point
Life under the sun is ultimately empty when lived apart from God; true meaning is found in fearing God, trusting His providence, and living faithfully before Him.

Sermon Title: Redemption and Rise
Sermon Text: Ruth 4

Sermon Theme
In our journey through Ruth, we have moved from the real death of a family name in chapter 1 to a ray of hope in Chapter 2. To an unexpected complication in Chapter 3.

We left chapter 3 with this question:

would the closer redeemer marry Ruth, or would he refuse, allowing Boaz, our (and certainly Naomi and Ruth's favourite candidate) to marry Ruth?

Ruth 4 answers that question and more through a REDEMPTION and a RISE.

Two Scenes
1. Scene 1: Redemption(1-17)
2. Scene 2: Rise(18-22)

Application Summary
Ruth is ultimately not a story about finding your "Boaz", nor is it simply a story about imitating the character of Ruth and Boaz.

It is a story about God's providence-His wise and sovereign hand preserving a family name and working through ordinary people and unexpected circumstances to accomplish His purposes.

From this family line, God would rase not merely a king, but the King of Kings. Ruth 4 will lay bare this purpose as we see the family redeemed and the king and king of kings raised.

Sermon Recap (2026/08/09):

All of life is lived in the face of eternity. For the Christian, that eternity may come in the blink of an eye at the Messiah's return, or at our homecoming to glory. We desire to be heavenly-minded while doing earthly good, knowing that life is short, uncertain, and eternity is long.

King Hezekiah faced these questions of purpose and eternity early in his reign. His testimony teaches us how to live faithfully today while preaparing wisely for eternity.

Sermon Title: Risk of Boaz's Redemption of the Family Name
Sermon Text: Ruth 3

Sermon Theme
In our journey through Ruth, we have moved from the real death of a family name in chapter 1, to a ray of hope in chapter 2.

That ray of hope gave us confidence that God, in His providence, was working through His unseen hand to provide a redeemer for Ruth and Naomi. That redeemer appeared to be Boaz - a man with legitimate rights to act as their redeemer.

But one question remained, will Boaz do it? Ruth 3 introduces an unexpected complication. The redemption we have beeen hoping for is not yet certain.

Three Scenes
1. Scene 1: Plan by Naomi
2. Scene 2: Problem Presented by Boaz
3. Scene 3 The Positive Expectation of Naomi

Ruth therefore teaches us to trust God and His wise provindential hand, even when we cannot see what He is doing in the midst of our hardships. What appears to be a risk or complication to us is never a complication to God's providence.

The decision to become a missionary must be more than "just a feeling". A missionary's testimony, a pressing need or an open door may awaken a genuine desire to go, but missionary calling is more than one powerful moment.

That desire needs to be tested through Scripture, Christlike character, faithful service, the wisdom of your local church and a growing readiness to persevere across cultures.

If God may be leading you towards the mission field, discover five ways that can help you (and a trusted pastor or discipler) assess your readiness and identify your next faithful steps!

Sermon Title: A Ray Of Hope
Sermon Text: Ruth 2

Sermon Theme
In this series, we have been moving from darkness to light, from emptiness to fulness, from death to life, and from a lost family name to a royal line.

Last time, we saw "The Real Death of a Family Name." Elimelech and his two sons had died, leaving Naomi and Ruth without husbands, children, or any apparent hope for the continuation of the family name. In the next two weeks, we will arrive at "The Royal Redemption of the Family Name."

But before we get there, today we will see "A Ray of Hope for the Family Name"-a ray of hope that points forward to the eventual redemption.

Two Scenes
1. Scene1: Hope in the Field
2. Scene 2: Hope in the House

Application
Ruth is ultimately not a story about finding your "Boaz" or simply imitating Ruth and Boaz. It is the story of God's providence preserving a family name and raising from it not only a king, but ultimately the King of Kings.

Ruth teaches us to trust God and His wise providential hand, even when we cannot see what He is doing in our hardships or joys.
