βοΈ STAY FAITHFUL / REMAIN FAITHFUL
βοΈ Whether you are sick or in good health, whether you are poor or rich, employed or unemployed β remain faithful to God.
βοΈ Do not allow the circumstances of life to dictate your obedience and your relationship with God.
β THEME: DON'T FORGET THE LORD YOUR GOD
π Deuteronomy 8:11 - 20 "Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe His commands..."
βοΈ Stay faithful to God in seasons of abundance, blessings, prosperity, and also in seasons of pain, problems and suffering.
You need God when you have nothing and are still praying for a breakthrough. You need God even more when your prayer for a better life is answered.
Moses was speaking to the Israelites before they entered Canaan. They had suffered in the wilderness β hunger, thirst, snakes β and God was all they had. Now God was about to give them houses they did not build, vineyards they did not plant, abundance and rest.
Moses warned them: Your greatest danger is not in Egypt or in the wilderness, but in Canaan. When you have everything, you will be tempted to forget the God who gave you everything.
This word is for us today. Many of us prayed hard when we had nothing, but now that God has answered...
β 1. WHY DO WE FORGET GOD?
πΉ a) Because of Abundance and Satisfaction
π Deut 8:12-14 - "When you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down... then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD."
When we are hungry, we remember God. When we are full, we forget. When the business grows, when you get that job, when the marriage is settled β that is when pride comes.
πΉ b) Because of Pride β "My Power Made This"
π Deut 8:17 - "You may say to yourself, My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me."
We start thinking it was our degree, our hard work, our connection. We forget it was God who gave us the power to get wealth (Deut 8:18).
πΉ c) Because We Stop Observing His Commands
We forget God by "failing to observe His commands." Forgetting God does not start in the heart, it starts when you stop obeying β you stop praying like before, you stop coming to church, you stop reading the Word, you stop tithing.
β 2. WHAT ARE THE SIGNS THAT YOU HAVE FORGOTTEN GOD?
πΉ 1. Your prayer life is dead β You no longer depend on God.
πΉ 2. You no longer have time for God β Too busy with the blessing.
πΉ 3. You are ashamed to testify β You can't say "It was God".
πΉ 4. You compromise β The standards you had in the wilderness, you no longer keep in Canaan.
β 3. HOW DO WE NOT FORGET GOD?
πΉ a) Remember Where God Took You From*
Deut 8:2 - "Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the wilderness..."
Look back. Remember the battles He fought, the rivers He divided, the doors He opened. Your testimony is your memory.
πΉ b) Keep Observing His Commands β Even in Abundance
Obedience is the proof of remembrance. Keep serving. Keep honoring God with your first fruits, sacrifice, thanksgiving, offering and tithe. Keep His Word even when you have money.
πΉ c) Practice Thanksgiving and Testimony*
Psalm 103:2 - "Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits."
Every time God blesses you, give Him glory publicly. Don't eat and forget. Eat and remember!
God is not against you entering Canaan. He wants you blessed, settled, and satisfied. But He is saying, "Be careful."
Today, have you forgotten God? Has the blessing taken you away from the Blesser? Has your success made you too proud to pray?
Today God is calling you back to remembrance. He is saying, "Remember Me."
