With hearts filled with joy, we warmly invite you, your family and loved ones to join us for our Krishna Ashtami Celebration — three beautiful nights dedicated to the teachings of our beloved Lord Krishna, spiritual reflection, prayer and togetherness.

4th September 2026 holds a very special significance for the Gita Mandir family.

We celebrate Krishna Ashtami — the divine birth of Lord Krishna, the embodiment of love, wisdom, compassion and Dharma.

And we celebrate the Birthday of our beloved Gurujee, whose life and teachings continue to illuminate the path of spiritual awakening, inner discipline and peace.

What a beautiful blessing that these two celebrations come together on one sacred evening.

Lord Krishna reminds us that the greatest victory is not over another, but over the restless mind within us. Our Gurujee’s teachings likewise call us to rise above attachment, aversion, fear and distraction—and to discover the stillness, strength and peace that already reside within.

As dawn breaks and the world is wrapped in sacred silence, come and immerse yourself in the divine vibrations of the 108 Gayatri Mantra Chant at the Gita Mandir.

The Gayatri Mantra is the eternal prayer for spiritual awakening. When chanted with devotion, it purifies the mind and leads us closer to the Divine Presence within.

Lord Krishna reminds us in the Bhagavad Gita:
"Whenever the restless and wandering mind strays, let one gently bring it back and place it under the control of the Self."
— Bhagavad Gita 6:26

The Gita Mandir officially opened its doors on the 25th of July 1975 and has since been serving as a Vedantic Institute for spiritual growth and upliftment.

July 2025 marked 50 years of this Mandir standing as a Beacon of Light and Hope for the community at large.

The Gita Mandir hosted its Golden Jubilee celebration on the 26 July 2025. The programme consisted of various speakers, bhajans, an audio recording of our Beloved Guru S Rambaran dating back to 1975 prior to the opening of our Mandir.

The overall themes shared by the various speakers included:
* Importance of involvement of Youth in Satsang and Spiritual Development
* Importance of preservation of spiritual knowledge and maintaining resilience as Hindu Communities
* History and origins of the Gita Mandir
* How the relationship between Devotee and Guru shapes and strengthens lives and communities
* The critical importance of sustaining spiritual practices

The Golden Jubilee Celebration was a resounding success. The Officials and Members of the Gita Mandir would like to thank each and every person who assisted in making this function such a memorable one.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of one of our beloved founder members of the Gita Mandir, Mr Kantilal Gokal. His unwavering dedication and leadership helped enrich the lives of many.

As we mourn this profound loss, we also celebrate a life devoted to faith, compassion, and unity. Mr Gokul's legacy will continue to inspire us for generations to come.

On behalf of the Gita Mandir Family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time. May Bhagwan grant eternal peace to his soul.

In this moment of grief, we pray that the divine light of our Gurujee shines upon your hearts, bringing comfort and healing. The memory of our dearest Mr Gokul will remain in our hearts forever.
