Shree Radha Krishna Mandir Pietermaritzburg

Shree Radha Krishna Mandir Pietermaritzburg The Gujarati Vedic Society, Pietermaritzburg The foundation of the Shree Radha Krishna Mandir was laid on 10th January 1982.

The Gujarati Vedic Society was established in 1947 to promote the religious advancement of the Gujarati Community in Pietermaritzburg. Our members initially held satsangs, prayers meetings, and religious discourses in individual homes of members and later at classrooms of the our school in Pietermaritz Street, which was built by the society in 1959. There was a need to teach and practice our relig

ious rituals and celebrate our viberant festivals, which led to the community vowing to build a temple to serve the cultural and religious needs of the Hindu community. The Temple project realised by the Gujarati Vedic Society, was the first project of its kind by any Gujarati Community in the Province of Natal. The vision of a Mandir by the members of the Gujarati community to promote our vibrant culture and religious beliefs was finally realised. The Shree Radha Krishna Mandir was officially opened by Nanoobhai L Bhoola and Mansookbhai I Bhoola on 24th July 1988.
