We once drove two hours to a village that didn't even show up on the map we were using.
No signal. No proper road. Half the team thought we'd taken a wrong turn somewhere outside Hoedspruit. And honestly? For a minute, so did I.
But we found it. And what we found there is kind of the whole reason we keep doing this.
Here's what nobody tells you about outreach work before you start:
It's not glamorous. Most of it is loading a bakkie at 5am, sleeping wherever there's floor space, and eating whatever someone's grandmother insists on feeding you (you say yes, always).
It's not really about "reaching" people either. Half the time they're the ones who end up teaching us something.
And the moments that actually matter — a kid asking his first real question about God, an old man crying because someone finally listened to his whole story — those never happen on camera. We just try to remember them right.
What DOES change things is showing up. Again and again. Even to the places without a signal.
