JOINT STATEMENT BY MOBCEF
(Mossel Bay Christian Ecumenical Forum)

We, the Christian community, stand against all forms of violence directed at foreign nationals or any persons within our community. Violence is not consistent with our faith or the values of our nation.

We acknowledge the complex socio-economic realities, including severe unemployment and deep-rooted poverty, but we believe that true community building cannot happen through fear and division.

We encourage all South Africans to express concerns and grievances through peaceful, lawful, and respectful means.

We further appeal to the government to uphold and enforce the law without fear or favor — applying it equally to foreign nationals who are in the country illegally, as well as to citizens of South Africa. Fair enforcement of the law is essential for lasting peace, order, and justice.

As a faith-based collective, we anchor our response in the biblical mandate to protect the vulnerable and treat foreigners with dignity.
