The Prince Buthelezi Mall in Empangeni has officially opened, with the ribbon-cutting led by Minister Velenkosini Hlabisa. The project has already created more than 1,500 permanent jobs, bringing both employment opportunities and excitement to residents of the City of uMhlathuze.

As the largest mall in northern KwaZulu-Natal, it is expected to reduce the need for residents to travel to Durban for major shopping and services. This development highlights the steady economic growth of uMhlathuze, as the city continues to attract significant investment and strengthen its role as a regional economic hub.

IFP in uMhlathuze is becoming increasingly popular for its work in the community. Over the past weekend, the party set up five fan parks for football supporters across the area to the Soweto Derby.

The constituency chairperson, Mr Xolani Gwezi, said they are pleased that everything went well at all the fan parks. He added that small and emerging businesses benefited, the transport industry saw positive gains, and local artists were also supported.

Most importantly, the initiative helped to strengthen social cohesion within the community.
