SALUTING THE WOMEN OF THE SAIVA SITHANTHA SUNGUM – UNIVERSAL MISSION
Since the founding of the Saiva Sithantha Sungum – Universal Mission in 1937, women have stood at the very heart of our movement.
They have been its pillars, its nurturers, its builders and its guardians — carrying the vision of our organisation forward through generations.
From the earliest days of our beloved Master, His Holiness Brahma Sri Siva Subramonia Guru Swamigal, women answered the call to serve. They worked tirelessly behind the scenes and at the forefront, helping to build our organisation from the ground up — physically, spiritually and literally.
The Maather Sungum became a powerful expression of this collective strength. They organised, taught, served, raised funds, cared for families, supported our branches and strengthened the very foundations of our Mission.
And today, that legacy continues.
Women of the Saiva Sithantha Sungum – Universal Mission occupy senior spiritual, leadership and administrative positions, contributing to the direction, growth and continued development of our sacred institution. A testament to this is that the majority of Gurus in the Sungum are women.
From the women who stood beside our Master in the early days, to the women who lead, serve and inspire today — we honour every one of you.
You have helped build this Mission with your hands, your hearts, your prayers and your unwavering faith.
Today, we pause to acknowledge the countless women whose names may never have been recorded in history, but whose contributions live on in every branch, every family and every generation touched by the Saiva Sithantha Sungum.
We salute our Women.
