The Good Shepherd 👨🌾 🐑🐑🐑
In John 10:11, Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd. He guides, protects, and loves His flock.
Like sheep, we must stay close to Him. We must avoid the stubborn ways of goats🐐, the poison of snakes🐍, and the filthy habits of pigs 🐖to live safely.
🐑The Sheep: Our Call to Follow
In the ancient world, a shepherd’s flock depended on him for everything.
•Listen to the Voice: Jesus said, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me" (John 10:27).
•Stay in the Fold: Sheep are safe when they stick together and stay near the Shepherd. Depend on His Lead: The Shepherd provides exactly what we need, like food and rest.
🐐The Goats: Keep Away From Rebellion
In Matthew 25:31-46, Jesus paints a picture of a final judgment where He separates the sheep from the goats. Goats represent independence and stubbornness.
•The Danger: Goats like to wander off alone. They go where they want, ignoring the Shepherd’s path.
•The Lesson: We are like goats when we say, "I can do this myself." We must avoid the pride of going our own way.
🐍The Snakes: Keep Away From Poison
Throughout the Bible, snakes represent deceit and poison.
•The Danger: Satan, the "ancient serpent," uses lies to trick us. Snakes hide quietly and strike when you are not looking.
•The Lesson: We must stay away from gossip, lies, and sin that can easily poison our hearts and the church family.
🐖The Pigs: Keep Away From Unclean Habits
The Bible often uses pigs (swine) as a symbol for returning to old, sinful ways.
•2 Peter 2:22 warns us about a "washed sow returning to her wallowing in the mud."
•The Danger: Pigs are happy living in the dirt. They love to wallow in filth.
•The Lesson: Once Jesus cleans our lives, we must not go back to our old, dirty sins. We must walk forward in purity.
As the Good Shepherd, Jesus gave His life to rescue us from the wilderness. He wants to protect you from the traps of the world.
