Walking In The Spirit 🕊🚶♂️🚶♀️
Walking in the Spirit is a daily, moment-by-moment surrender to the Holy Spirit's leading. Rooted in Galatians 5:16, it involves putting off sinful habits of the flesh and intentionally setting your mind on Spirit-led growth.
First, to walk by the Spirit, according to Paul, means putting off the old way of life, “the works of the flesh” (v. 19).
Galatians 5:16 reminds us to "walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh." It is a proactive choice, not a passive feeling.
Crucifying the Flesh: It requires active resistance to the sinful nature (Galatians 5:19-21). It's about "mortification"—putting sin to death with the Spirit's help.
Bearing the Fruit: When you submit to the Spirit's control, your life naturally produces the "fruit of the Spirit" (Galatians 5:22-23): love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Setting the Mind: Walking in the Spirit means focusing on spiritual things and relying on God's power rather than your own strength (Romans 8:5).
