Greetings Precious Saints.
It is definitely true that the church in Africa does have two extreme situations; the extremely rich & the extremely poor of the poorest. Only the church have clarity of understanding to turn the situation around but it will need a strong determination of our leaders to show integrity, honesty, sacrifices and a deep love & care for the poor. The sheer magnitude of the problem as outlined below is daunting & mammoth but not impossible for God is on the side of the poor.
> Far more than 1 billion people live in abject poverty. That’s almost 1 in 7 people.
> Starvation & disease are the twins that kills many of the worlds children and poor people.
> Poverty is just not a simple issue of giving food to the needy & feeding the hungry. It’s evil fangs pierce very deep into the fabric of lives, families & society. On top of this is a capitalist system that plays a huge part in world poverty.
> A wholistic approach from the church to hunger, malnutrition, disease, population growth, political leadership, greed, employment, etc is needed.
> Progress in theses spheres must lead to Christian’s making personal & structural changes. Most Christian don’t understand the gravity of the situation cos we arrogantly claim we know what it is be poor.
> I say arrogance because we think we live in modesty when we ourselves are over fed, materialistically ever increasing & always live to get more.
>. The rich gets richer the poor gets poorer & we are pushing all the time upwards to get more. This a a world wide trend. The church was not supposed to follow the world. But in the name of prosperity we hoard things & keep ourselves happy. “I will build bigger barns…” mentality. Luke 12:18.
God is on the side of the poor is littered throughout scripture.
We don’t not teach in church to live within our means, but rather we as leaders model the prosperous life & get others to do so. This must change. We applaud the riches of people more than the poor, & the poor is looked down upon.”like God is withholding the blessings from them” “materialistically” Are we not guilty of this? “Judgement must begin in the house of God”
