The Students' Christian Organisation (SCO) is a student-based on-campus society and structure, centered around the practice of God's word, the power of the Gospel and fellowship in Jesus Christ. The organisation is aimed at serving by gaining practical experience and exposure to organisational matters and the planning process. It is sustained by it's members who offer their time weekly to continue
the work of the branch by creating strategies and activities to engage Christian students and ensure that those who do not know Christ come to the knowledge of Him. DISTRICT SIX CAMPUS BRANCH
The District Six Campus Branch is located at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) District Six Campus. It caters for students studying at the campus, offering spiritual upliftment programs, Christian-bonding, Christian retreats, academic support, skills development initiatives and Bible-based discipleship classes. This is all made possible by becoming an affiliated member of the branch. SCO is also involved in caring for it's community and for students at large. It extends it's work to helping the less fortunate by offering visits to community centers and shelters, praying for those in need and offering Biblical support through intercession and counseling, mentorship of future university students by high school visitations, development of future student leaders and student representatives by granting them leadership opportunities, exposure to learning and experimenting with one's musical abilities through sound management and worship practice, making disciples throughout the institution through evangelism and residential crusades along with any other facet the organisation is involved in on a day-to-day basis. It hosts praise and fellowship services every Friday at 17h30 - 20h30 at the Lecture Theatre Hall near the District Six Campus Piazza. This is preceded by weekly cell meetings at various Cape Town campus student residences on Wednesday evenings and Discipleship classes on Monday and Friday evenings. The organisation is governed by it's executive committee known as the Branch Executive Committee (BEC) consisting of ten portfolio holders, each responsible for various sub-committees and sub-ministries of the branch.
