Let's pray for Synod this week:
Read and Meditate on 1 Peter 2: 1-11. We thank God for His call upon our lives and declare the praises of God who called us out of darkness into His light. (vs 9)
We admit that there is still much that needs God’s transforming power in our personal and life together as His church. (vs 1 We lay before God our sin and deeply desire to live the Christ-like life as God’s chosen people. Lord, change our hearts.
We trust You, Lord, to do what only You can do! Cleanse and fill us with your love.
Prayer Focus for Week 1:
We pray that all the detailed planning that has been done for the Presbyters’ Convocation, Synod sessions, services of worship, meals, travel, parking and accommodation will all fall into place. We pray for our Ecumenical guests, our Bible Study Leader, and the appointments of all synod committees and Convenors that those tasked with responsibilities, would work to the best of their ability. We pray for proper preparation of the delegates who have done the necessary electronic reading of Synod reports. We pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in all that we may do.
1) We pray for the ex*****on of plans made for every aspect of Synod, that those tasked with responsibilities will work well together and serve with joy! We pray that there will be no power interruptions.
2) We pray for all ministers, probationers and Supernumeraries attending the Presbyters’ Convocation, and for our Bishop Yvette Moses, Vice Chair, Rev. Ralph Afghan, and Synod Secretary, Rev Noeleen Maquena, as they lead. Pray for the renewal of Ordination vows, questions of Discipline and Doctrine. Pray for the oral examination of Ordinands and the Theological Discussion concerning the implications of addiction led by Rev Dr Leon Klein.
3) We are praying for the preparation of each leader studying the Blue Book. Pray that there will be enough working Wi-fi connectivity for electronic devices. Pray for the safety of electronic devices, microphones, cell phones and laptops at all times.
4) We pray for the warm welcome of Ecumenical Guests and for our Bible Study leader Rev Charmaine Morgan in preparation and presentation. Pray for the Conversation on the work of God that it may be encouraging and challenging. We pray for good health and peaceful sleep for everybody every night.
5) Pray for a deep sensitivity to the Holy Spirit’s leading in the sacred moment of elections. We pray that each delegate would seek God’s will, that there be no lobbying or wrong motives but a desire to support a person who would be given the spiritual task of Serving God’s people, be courageous in standing for truth, have good administration skills and rely fully on God.
God’s will be done.
AMEN.
