YTH DAY Countdown | Kids Church Testimony

In January 2023, we hit a breaking point. Our leaders were exhausted, and we made a radical decision: we laid it all down. No Kids Church.

What followed was 9 months of messy family services, loud distractions, and intense wrestling. But in the middle of the noise, God spoke a foundational truth: Parents are the primary disciple-makers of their children.

September 2023, Kids Church was reborn. Not as a babysitting club, but as a parent-led, Spirit-filled ministry where:
🏡 Discipleship starts at home.
🙌 Children boldly lead worship and pray.
🌍 Kids are actively sharing the Gospel.

What looked like death was resurrected by God into something healthy, vibrant, and built to last. This is what happens when we step back and let God build it His way!

A testimony from the recent Mozambique mission. 🇲🇿

One of the biggest things the Young Adults team experienced in Chadamane, Mozambique was the power of prayer.

Again and again, God revealed things in prayer long before they saw them with their own eyes. He highlighted people, situations, and needs before they encountered them, reminding them that He was already at work.

It was a beautiful reminder that prayer isn't just about asking God to move, it's about partnering with Him in what He's already doing.

They went to serve, but they came back with a deeper confidence that God still speaks, still leads, and still reveals His heart to His people.

"Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known." Jeremiah 33:3

May this encourage us all to keep seeking Him. The God who knows the end from the beginning is still speaking, still revealing, and still inviting His people into His purposes through prayer.

We are Shofar - more than a local church.

We are part of a global movement of over 50 congregations united across borders and generations. Our very name carries a prophetic assignment: to break the silence, proclaim the goodness of King Jesus, and awaken people to their God‑given purpose.

When we gather at Shofar Cape Town South, we do so standing on the shoulders of a pioneer story that began in 1992. From a small student fellowship, God has raised up an international movement that continues to reach nations and generations. Out of that same pioneering spirit, our local house was planted in 2010. Since then, we’ve seen the Lord transform us from a handful of young adults into a thriving, multi‑cultural family.

Church, to us, is not just a building you visit on Sundays, it is a family living on mission together. Here in Cape Town South, people from all walks of life — from families in the southern suburbs to students at UCT — gather to worship, grow, and serve.

Together with the wider Shofar body, we are single‑minded in our vision: to reach nations and generations through disciple‑making, leadership development, and church planting. 🌎🔥

Awaken Ladies Worship Evening 🌸

There’s something so special about women gathering with open hearts, lifting their voices, and simply resting in the presence of the Lord. This evening wasn’t about performance or perfection - it was about worship, fellowship, and freedom.

Together we sang, prayed, and encountered His Spirit in a way that left us refreshed and encouraged.

WHO AM I? | Richard Chapman

This Sunday, we were confronted with a simple but searching question: Who am I?

Our identity cannot be built on our achievements, our roles, our failures, or the opinions of others. True identity is found in Christ alone.

But this message didn't stop at identity. It challenged us to respond. God is inviting us into deeper surrender, greater obedience, and a life fully yielded to Him. God is calling His Church out of comfort, out of compromise, and into complete surrender - not 50%, not 90%, but 100%.

Jesus makes it clear in Luke 9:23: “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

We were reminded that following Jesus is not partial, convenient, or selective. It is a daily laying down of self, comfort, and control.

May we be a people who give our lives to spread the love, the life, and the fame of Jesus Christ.

Mission-cation: Community Highlight

16 families, 2 campsites, 10 unforgettable days together.

This trip reminded us what community truly looks like. Non-judgmental. Authentic. Open. Jesus-loving.

Being surrounded by families who share the same heart brought so much healing, laughter, and renewed purpose, to both kids and adults.

One of our families shared it perfectly:

"There's something so unique and refreshing about spending time like this together… seeing and hearing God working through the children is beyond inspiring. It lights a new flame within our hearts as adults and resets the focus and priority of our lives."

We are so grateful for every family who stepped out in faith, packed their tents, and chose community. You made this trip extraordinary.

Awaken Ladies Worship Evening

Come join us for a night set apart for worship and fellowship. There is no agenda, no schedule, no performance - only women gathering to exalt the name of Jesus.

Together we will dwell in His presence, worship freely, and trust the Spirit to guide the flow of the evening. It’s a time to rest, to be refreshed, and to enjoy the gift of community.

Come expectant for what the Lord desires to do as we linger together and make room for His Spirit.

This Sunday Kenney shared on our final pillar of the Kingdom Life series - the local church!

From the very beginning, Christianity was meant to be communal. The New Testament, written largely to local churches, shows us that God’s plan has always been to use His church as His primary vehicle to reach the world. And what a miracle it is: that He chooses to work through flawed people to build His kingdom.

Jesus Himself declared, “On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18). It’s not about us — our preaching, worship, or buildings — but about the revelation that Jesus is the Christ. That’s the foundation God builds on.

Just as God reminded Israel to remember His works, we too must pause with gratitude, recalling what He has done in our congregation. These memorials point us to what He is doing now and where He is leading us.

Three truths have marked our journey:
🌍 The nations: God has always brought people from many nations into our church, sending them out again with His mission.
📖 God speaks: The Lord’s prophetic voice continues to guide us through His people.
🤝 Shared leadership: The priesthood of believers reminds us to pray for those leading, knowing they are human and not to be placed in the role reserved for Jesus alone.

We’ve learned that in church, hurt and offense will come, but healing, forgiveness, and repentance are the way forward. Revival begins when we keep Jesus at the center, not our pastors, not ourselves.
