ONE LORD. ONE CHURCH. ONE MISSION.
“That they all may be one… so that the world may believe.” — John 17:21
How can we read the same Bible, worship the same God, preach the same Jesus and still be so divided as a church?
God has not changed!
Malachi 3:6 says, “I the LORD do not change.”
Hebrews 13:8 declares:
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever!”
So the problem isn’t with God’s Word. Bearing in mind that God is His word.
The problem is what WE sometimes do with God’s Word!
We take Scripture out of context.
We allow traditions, culture, money, power, pride and personal agendas to influence what God has already spoken.
Paul warned us in 2 Timothy 4:3 that people would look for teachers who tell them what they want to hear.
GOD’S WORD MUST CHANGE US. WE MUST NEVER CHANGE GOD’S WORD!
Jesus asked:
“Is Christ divided?” — 1 Corinthians 1:13
NO!
Christ is not divided!
And His Church was never meant to be divided!
Ephesians 4 says:
“One body… one Spirit… one Lord… one faith… one baptism… one God and Father of all.”
We may not agree on every secondary issue.
But there must be one foundation:
JESUS CHRIST!
And Jesus prayed:
“That they all may be one… so that the world may believe.”
OUR UNITY IS PART OF OUR WITNESS!
The world is watching us!
The world needs the Church!
It needs a place where the broken can find hope.
Where sinners can find grace.
Where families can find restoration.
Where truth is preached.
Where love is genuine.
And where JESUS IS LORD!
WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT AGAIN!
The early Church didn’t change the world through human strength.
They prayed!
They worshipped!
They stood together!
Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.
Acts 2:1 says they were “all together in one place.”
And then
THE HOLY SPIRIT CAME!
Peter preached!
Three thousand souls were saved!
Acts 4 says they prayed together, were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the Word of God with boldness.
WHEN GOD’S PEOPLE COME TOGETHER UNDER GOD’S AUTHORITY, GOD CAN MOVE WITH POWER!
SO WHAT MUST WE DO?
Number one: Return to the Word!
Not culture.
Not popularity.
Not personal agendas.
THE WORD!
Number two: Put Jesus above our labels!
Don’t let denomination become greater than discipleship.
CHRIST MUST BE OUR IDENTITY!
Number three: Seek the Holy Spirit!
We don’t need more human power.
WE NEED HOLY SPIRIT POWER!
Number four: Make the Great Commission our mission!
Jesus said:
“Go and make disciples of all nations.”
Remember that we’re not called to compete for sheep.
WE ARE CALLED TO GO FIND THE LOST!
Number five:
Walk in humility and love!
Because unity doesn’t mean compromising truth.
UNITY MEANS STANDING TOGETHER IN TRUTH, LOVE AND HUMILITY!
PASTORS, THIS IS YOUR HOUR!
Don’t look at the division and give up!
STAND!
Preach the Word!
Guard the Gospel!
Call the Church back to prayer!
Back to holiness!
Back to Scripture!
Back to Jesus!
And believe God for revival again!
Psalm 133 says:
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”
And verse 3 says:
“FOR THERE THE LORD BESTOWS HIS BLESSING.
Where?
Where there is UNITY!
Maybe the revival we’re praying for won’t begin with another conference.
Maybe it will begin when pastors start praying together.
When churches stop competing.
When denominations stop fighting.
When believers lay down pride.
When we stop building our kingdoms
AND START BUILDING HIS KINGDOM!
The enemy wants us fighting each other while the world is dying without Christ.
But God is saying:
“COME BACK TOGETHER!”
Come back to the Cross!
COME BACK TO THE WORD!
Come back to prayer!
COME BACK TO HOLINESS!
Come back to the Holy Spirit!
COME BACK TO JESUS!
Because when the Church is divided, the world sees our arguments.
But when the Church is united, THE WORLD SEES JESUS!
One Lord!
ONE FAITH!
One Spirit!
ONE GOSPEL!
One mission!
ONE CHURCH!
And when we stand together,not in compromise,
but in TRUTH;
not in pride,
but in HUMILITY;
not in human strength,
but in THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
HELL CANNOT STOP A UNITED CHURCH
Don’t give up on the Church.
God is not finished with His Church!
There is still power in the Gospel.
There is still power in prayer.
There is still power in the blood of Jesus.
There is still power in the Holy Spirit.
And there is still a harvest waiting!
Jesus said:
“Lift up your eyes, and look at the fields; for they are white already for harvest.” — John 4:35
LET US ARISE!
Let us stand together!
Let us pray together!
Let us preach together!
Let us love one another!
Let us reach the lost together!
And let us lift up one name
THE NAME ABOVE EVERY NAME!
JESUS!
Because where there is unity, God commands the blessing.
And when the Church becomes one:
THE WORLD WILL SEE JESUS!
