Sunday 11 December 2011
HIV/AIDS Awareness Sunday
Speaker: Rev Richard Giesken (Australia)
Theme: John 9 - Jesus healing of the man 'Blind from Birth'
Invitation extended to Rose, Francisca and Nompumelelo to come and speak about HIV/AIDS and their openness to tell us that they are AIDS sufferers as well. Their message was that of the importance of getting their message out to other sufferers that of taking their ARV medication constantly - showing those that they are living normal lives because of the medication. Each had AIDS for number years yet portrayed healthy bodies and self image. The underlying message for us was that their need was that people treat them as people and not outcasts.

"AIDS is our number one enemy. This enemy can be defeated. While the research for a cure continues, four principles -- love, support, acceptance and care for those affected -- can make us winners." - Nelson Mandela
