We will be arranging a group walk on 21 March at 09:00am from St Francis of Assisi, and will walk through Strandfontein. All who have registered are welcome to join in on the fun!

Heaven’s Nest Child Care and Recreational Centre have a vacancy for a part time Social Worker

Job Title: Social Worker
Number of Positions: 1
Contract: Permanent
Reports to: Facility Manager and Heaven’s Nest Board of Management

Requirements
o Applicable BA (Social work) Degree
o Registered with South African Council for Social Service Professions. (SACSSP)
o Good knowledge of the Children’s Act
o Familiar with all the DSD regulatory, statutory and reporting requirements
o Knowledge of C*C in residential care (compulsory) and experience in statutory work (child protection services) advantage but not compulsory
o Bilingual: to serve the specific communities that we are responsible for, applicants have to understand, speak and write English and Afrikaans (this will be tested).
o Candidate must be able to work independently as well as within a Multi-Disciplinary Team.
o Ability to do counseling
o Up to date SAPS Clearance
o Be willing to be vetted for form 29
o Ability to work well as part of a team
o Good time management and administrative skills
o Ability to work under pressure, take initiative and work without supervision
o Ability to network with Stakeholders
o Excellent communication and reporting skills
o Have good intra and interpersonal skills
o Have strong family and other support systems.
o Valid RSA Code 08 driver’s license and driving experience (persons with only a learner’s license will not be considered and a driving test is compulsory)

Requirements
• Qualified C*CW with an FETC Child and Youth Care Work (NQF level 4/5)
• Registered with South African Council for Social Service Professions. (SACSSP)
• Valid clear Police Clearance certificate
• Competency (Speak, Read and Write) in English
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans
• Full understanding of being the first responder in life space work
• Knowledge of residential care, theories of development, ACTS and policies that guide child and youth care workers.
• Willing to attend training and meetings
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Have good intra and interpersonal relationships
• Good communication skills
• Must enjoy good health
• Must have strong family and other support systems.
