The saving effect of the sacraments

On Sunday 06th September 2026, joy was felt amongst the members of Norwood congregation as we welcomed our District Rector, Shepherd Theo Jansen to the congregation. Accompanying the District Rector was our Rector, Priest Quentin Williams.

Today’s divine service was also dedicated to Friendship, and many were able to invite their friends to this divine service.

The bible text used, out of 1 John 05 vs 08 (NKJV)
“And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.”

Key thoughts:
- The divine Sonship of Jesus Christ is acknowledged by God the Father.
- The Spirit, the water and the blood point to the saving effect of the sacraments administered in the church of Christ
- The sacraments are necessary for obtaining salvation in its fulness.

As conclusion to the divine service, our choir beautifully rendered the hymn “This is the Day”

An in true Norwood fashion we joined in fellowship after the divine service to enjoy a doughnut and juice.

Norwood Women’s Month Weekend

What an eventful and joy‑filled weekend it has been for Norwood congregation.

On Saturday, 29 August 2026, we celebrated Women’s Month with a beautiful Sunflower High Tea. The afternoon was filled with inspiration, laughter, thoughtful gifts, and birthday wishes for those marking their special day.

On Sunday, 30 August 2026, our Rector Priest Quentin Williams conducted the divine service, accompanied by Priest Charles Manual.

The Bible text for the service was Exodus 20:13 (NKJV) — “You shall not murder.”

The message reminded us that God alone is Lord over life and death, a powerful truth that anchors our faith.

The Choir leaders and organists from Elsies River District (ERD) were also cross‑booked, and we welcomed, both former members of Norwood congregation: Deacon Garret Beukes (Choir Leader, Salberau Congregation) and Sherman Overmeyer (Organist, Salberau Congregation).

On Sunday we also had "Ministers teaching Sunday School Lesson" which was thoroughly enjoyed by the children.

A truly memorable weekend of fellowship, celebration, and spiritual enrichment.

As conclusion to the divine service the choir rendered the hymn “How Lovely is Zion”. A beautiful ending to a joyful weekend.

In authentic Norwood congregation style, our Senior members spontaneously gathered for fellowship on Sunday 23rd August 2026, concurrently celebrating several members who recently observed their birthdays.
