The blessing of the Triune God

On Sunday 31st May 2026, much excitement and joy was felt amongst the members of Norwood congregation. The Divine service was conducted by our District Rector; Theo Jansen and he was companied by our Rector Quentin Williams.

The bible text used, was out of 2 Corinthians 13 vs 14
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”

We were not only delighted by the visit of our District Rector, but we also celebrated Priest Neville Lombard and his wife, Sandy, as they marked their 25th wedding anniversary.

The choir closed the service with the hymn “Almighty God, how wondrous.”

The message for today was that the work and activity of the triune God are expressed in the closing benediction of the divine service.

Following the divine service, we hosted matriculants from around the Elsies River District for a friendly meet‑and‑greet.

Called to bear witness

On Sunday 17th May 2026, the divine service was led by Rector Quentin Williams and he was accompanied by Priest Neville Lombard.

The bible text was from Acts 1 vs 8
“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth,

Our message received today was that through the Holy Spirit we are empowered to have faith and to bear witness to Jesus Christ.

Our congregation also witnessed the act of Holy Baptism, where 5 young souls were baptised.

The service was concluded with the choir singing “Hallelujah”

Following the Divine Service, Priest Jason Abrahams led the Pentecost Preparation Sunday School presentation, engaging our children and teaching them about the “superpower” given through Holy Sealing by an Apostle and how the Holy Spirit, celebrated at Pentecost, empowers us.

Ascension Day 2026
With Christ to the goal.

On Thursday 14th May 2026, Norwood congregation celebrated Ascension Day. The Divine service was conducted by our Rector, Priest Quentin Williams.

The bible text used, was out of John 16 vs 28:
“I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.”

As a festive divine service, we also had Bible reading, read by our Senior member Brian Philander out of Mark 16 vs 14-19.

The message for today was that it is through Christ that we attain eternal fellowship with God.
