That part of you that you lost—can I encourage you? It’s looking for you right now. The joy, the talent, the favor, the confidence—it’s knocking on your door. The creative you, the outgoing you, the compassionate you, the generous you. He’s been gone long enough. Now you have to do your part and get your fire back. Get your passion back. Start taking some risks. “Well, Joel, if I get involved in another relationship, I may get hurt again. If I take this new opportunity, they may not treat me right or I may not be good at it.” Yes, it’s easier to stay in hiding. If you unplug, if you disengage, you might not experience as much hurt, pain, disappointment. You can protect yourself from that. But you’ll also never experience the joy, the love, the favor, the victory that makes your life so rewarding and so fulfilling.

Yes, we all go through seasons of struggle, where we have to endure and do the right thing when it’s hard. It can seem like the opposition is winning, that we’ll always be held back. We’ve done what we can on our own, but we’re not able to change. The good news is you’re not on your own. Jesus came to take off you what the enemy put on you. He came to free you from what’s bound you, to loose you from what’s restricting you. Every negative thing that’s limiting you has no right to stay. You are God’s property.

Jeremiah wrote, “Your word, O Lord, is like fire shut up in my bones.” A little earlier, he was saying, “I’m too young. I can’t speak. I’m unqualified.” Now, he’s saying, “I’ve got fire shut up in me. I’ve got talent, anointing, power that I never realized I had.” I wonder what’s shut up in you right now? What has God has already programed you with, that you have no idea? Books shut up in you, talent shut up in you, a business shut up in you, resources, inventions, leadership, courage, wealth shut up in you. God has already ordained it to happen. You’ve been faithful. You’ve done the right thing when it was hard. I believe God is about to release what’s been shut up. He's going to release the talent in you, release the courage, release the success, release the creativity. You’re going to step into resources that you never dreamed you would handle. Doors you never expected to open, talent that you didn’t know was in you. It’s not going to be ordinary, not common, but something your family has never seen. Something that will cause you to stand out, to impact the community, to leave your mark.

God puts you in situations so you can see what’s in you. He already knows what’s there. But if you’ll recognize it and make the adjustments, then you’re proving to Him that you have the character to be promoted. God will test you in private before He’ll promote you in public. How do you handle that coworker who always ignores you, doesn’t pay you any attention, but now they need your help? They asked you for a favor. It’s easy to say, “Sorry, I’m busy, loser. No thanks. You didn’t give me the time of day.” It’s a small thing, but it can keep you from something big. It’s revealing what’s in you. Pay attention to your attitude toward hurts, offenses, being wronged. It doesn’t mean you’re a bad person to feel offended or want revenge. You’re human. Those feelings come to us all. What I’m saying is there’s a better way to live. When you make the choice to override those feelings and bless those who have done you wrong, cover them when you could expose them, be good to them even though they weren’t good to you, you are positioning yourself for promotion.

God is saying, “Did not I tell you? I will give you beauty for those ashes. Did not I tell you? Weeping endures for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Did not I tell you that I will pay you back double for the unfair things that have happened?” God has you in the palm of His hand. He has not brought you this far to leave you. That loss, the breakup, yes, it’s painful, but it didn’t stop your destiny. God has a new beginning. He’s about to open new doors, bring new relationships. You haven’t seen your best days.
