A Reflection on Today's Homily

"Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground."

Today, these words struck me differently. Not as a command from long ago, but as an invitation, right now, in this moment.

The homily spoke of three fires: the burning bush, the coals of kindness for our enemies, and the refining fire of the Cross. But what lingered with me was this: God does not ask us to walk through the fire alone. He enters it with us. He is the fire that burns but does not consume.

Sometimes we stand on holy ground without realizing it, in the sleepless night, the hospital waiting room, the silence after an argument, the ordinary sacrifices of our daily lives. The ground beneath us is holy because He is there.

Moses turned aside to see the bush. That's all it took. A moment of attention. A pause in the noise.

Today, I felt that pause. Like water washing over me. Not answers. Just awe.

Maybe that's enough. Maybe that's the beginning of everything.

Take off your sandals. Be still. He is here.
