We are blessed to have a full summer team, and many campers are registered to join us for this summer's fun, with opportunities to experience and to practice sharing God's love in His creation. Looking forward, we still have extra spots open - and we cannot do ministry to an empty bunk! Please invite your family, friends and others in your community to consider sending their youth to this life changing experience. https://www.campluther.org/registration

40 days after Easter Day, the church observes Ascension Day, in recognition of the astonishing moment when the resurrected Christ ascended, body and soul, into heaven. After his resurrection, Jesus remained with his disciples for 40 days. Over these five and a half weeks, over 500 people witnessed the resurrected Christ. Jesus’ death had been publicly confirmed and now he was publicly confirmed as alive. The resurrected Messiah fellowshipped with, taught, and ministered to his disciples, and even cooked for them and ate with them. For the remainder of the 1st century, these 500+ witnesses’ stories were cross-examined and investigated by skeptics and proven true time and time again and the Gospel spread with new generations of converts convinced that Jesus Christ was the living God.

At the culmination of these 40 days, Jesus lifted up his hands and blessed his disciples and was suddenly “taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.” (Acts 1:9) Yet Jesus had not abandoned his disciples. “I am with you always,” (Matthew 28:20) Jesus said in one of his final teachings. And so he is. Jesus is the true vine (John 15:1) and all who are in Christ are grafted into him (Romans 11:17). He is present in his body and his blood, giving us life and love, wisdom and truth. He continues to minister to us today as we await his coming again in great glory and power at the very end of the age.

Almighty God, whose only-begotten Son our Lord Jesus Christ ascended into heaven: May our hearts and minds also there ascend, and with him continually dwell; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

Interested in the convention this summer, I know you are! This site breaks down the current setting workbook into bite sized pieces. If you want to print a hard copy of the 500-600 pages PDF, you can find that on the LCMS.org website, there may be a link to it on this sites page as well. [FYI, AI was used to help format the information, so be advised some of the formatting/spacing of texts is a little wonky, i.e. incarnational look like "in car national"]

From Pastor Ben,

Friends in Christ, a few weeks ago I announced that I received a call to St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Leavenworth, KS. Earlier this week I received another call to Immanuel Lutheran Church and School in Plainview, MN. Again, I welcome any conversations you would like to have, and ask for you prayers for the congregations of Faith, St. Paul’s, and Immanuel, as well as for myself, Elisa, Elijah and Michael.

I plan to announce my decision regarding the Call to St. Paul’s on May 17th, and, if needed, my decision regarding the Call to Immanuel by May 24th. Christ is faithful, and He will lead us.

From Pastor Ben:

On Monday I received a Divine Call from the congregation of St. Paul Lutheran Church and School in Leavenworth, Kansas to be their senior pastor. That means I now hold two Calls from the Lord—my current Call here to Faith, and this new Call to St. Paul.

As pastors, we are called to listen when the Church speaks, because we believe that God works through means, that Christ Himself calls pastors through His people. So Elisa and I are entering a time of prayerful discernment, reassured that whatever the decision the Lord walks with us to form and shape us.

We are simply beginning the process of listening, praying, and seeking where we are being led.

Because Christ is risen, we don’t face moments like this with fear, but with hope and contentment. The risen Jesus is present with His Church. He leads, He provides, and He holds all of us in His care.

If you have questions or would like to talk, I’m here. And I ask for your prayers, for Elisa, for me, for the boys, for our congregation, and for St. Paul, as we seek the Lord’s direction. I intend to reach a decision by Sunday, May 17th.

The peace of the Lord be with you.
