Never Forget.

25 years later, we renew that promise. This year, a 7th moment of silence has been added to honor the over 9,000 people who have since died from 9/11 related illnesses.

Today we don't just remember the horrors of that day, we remember the heroes. Those who SELFLESSLY gave their lives to save others.

“Will the Lord reject forever? Will he never show his favor again? Has his unfailing love vanished forever? Has his promise failed for all time? Has God forgotten to be merciful? Has he in anger withheld his compassion? Then I thought, 'To this I will appeal: the years when the Most High stretched out his right hand. "Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God." Romans 13:1

For the past 250 years, God has established these United States of America as the governing authority of the land. The great American Experiment is a simple but powerful ideal: A government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Despite our imperfections, political battles, and history of inequality, no government established in the history of humanity has experienced this level of prosperity, possibility, and peace.

Today we celebrate not only our founding, but also our legacy:

We salute those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.

We show appreciation to those who currently stand watch over that same, hard won freedom.

We seek reconciliation for the countless oppressed and afflicted still waiting to claim their full freedom.

We share with the next generation hope for the future where everyone experiences this freedom.

As citizens of the Kingdom of God, we give thanks to Him for this nation we call home. We pray that we steward this delicate experiment so that "this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

Last weekend, 67 people (mostly from Sierra Leone) were stopped at the border of Guinea by a border patrol officer. He had been trained by World Hope International in spotting signs of human trafficking, so he did not allow them to pass. It turns out, he was right—they were being trafficked to Cote d’Ivoire. These 67 survivors were able to be taken in by the local police station, and the trafficker was arrested. 45 of them are children. Please pray with us as we are working around the clock to assess their needs, provide clothing and hygiene needs, and find places for them to go.

While we have a Recovery Centre in Sierra Leone, we are currently at capacity due to our house parent to survivor ratio. Needless to say, we are currently raising support in order to hire more house parents, social workers, and all of the costs needed to support more survivors over the next year.

The budget for this is $115K over the next 12 months. Some survivors will be short-term, others will be long-term, and some will be served as they are reintegrated back into their communities. We are so grateful that our World Hope team knows how to care for these survivors well and is present in this time. Please be praying for the survivors as they recover and that they get the assistance they need.
