Today is the Feast Day of one of our Collaborative’s Patron Saints: St. Anthony of Padua. As we celebrate his feast day, let’s look back on some photos of the St. Anthony statue procession from our festival in north Woburn one week ago today! It is traditional to pin money on the statue of St. Anthony as a prayer intention request.
St. Anthony was originally from Lisbon Portugal and became a Franciscan friar at age 26. He taught theology to his fellow friars, was a devoted student of scripture, and was a gifted orator and preacher. He was known as the “Evangelical Doctor”. He is often depicted (as he is here) with the child Jesus who once appeared to St. Anthony in the midst of prayer in this form of a little child. He died at the age of 36. St. Anthony is the patron saint of Portugal, of the poor, of fishermen, of harvest, and most popularly of lost or stolen items. Whenever you lose something, feel free to ask for St. Anthony’s intercession to help find it. St. Anthony of Padua, one of our patron saints and friend in heaven, pray for us! 🙏
