While the university is a United Methodist institution, people of all faith backgrounds are welcomed as students and guests. The Office of Spiritual Life is staffed by Interim University Chaplain, Rev. DeLyn Celec, Chaplain and Muslim Community Coordinator, Hanaa Unus, Chaplain and Director of Spiritual Development and Outreach, Ian Carlos Urriola, and Administrative Assistant and Interfaith Coordinator, Tamiya Earley.

Join Spiritual Life and Muslim Student Life for a lovely fall hike at Harpers Ferry National Historical Park on Sunday, November 1. Meet some new friends, breathe the fresh cool air, and enjoy the beauty of God's creation. We’re meeting at the HIVE at 10:00am. If you are coming from one of our satellite campuses, please coordinate with Asiya to meet up with us. The hike will take about 2 hours. Bring your own lunch, water, and comfy shoes. This spring break, Shenandoah University students, faculty, and staff are invited to take part in an unforgettable Mission Trip to Mexico—a journey of faith, service, and connection!

Together, we’ll roll up our sleeves to renovate and maintain a local church property and its buildings, taking part in painting, restoration, and community improvement projects. But beyond the work, this is an opportunity to build relationships, grow in faith, and share in the joy of serving others.

You’ll also get to immerse yourself in Mexican culture, exploring its rich traditions, delicious food, warm hospitality, and vibrant history that will leave a lasting impact on your heart.

To make this experience accessible to everyone, Spiritual Life will cover most travel expenses.
Participants are responsible for obtaining or renewing their own passport if needed.

Come be part of something meaningful: a week of service, friendship, and discovery that will stay with you long after you return home.

Join Spiritual Life at the Village Common Room on October 20th from 1:30 pm to 3:00pm for a fun pumpkin carving party, open to the students, faculty, staff. At this gathering, participants can carve and paint pumpkins together. Pumpkins and tools will be provided; you bring your creativity (and maybe a friend or two)! Heads up: it can get a little messy, so come prepared to have fun and dress appropriately.
