The barge was mighty full this morning. Thanks to our friends at SALT United Methodist for a wonderful breakfast and these beautiful flowers.

There is a little magic on certain Sundays and sometimes I’m almost glad I didn’t get more pictures or videos because there’s no real capturing it.
Today was one of those days.

What an absolute joy and privilege it is to be in ministry with this community.

“Write the vision and make it plain.”
The Anchor does not envision a city where everyone is housed and fed and clothed. Other organizations and churches have that vision and it is a worthy one.
The Anchor exists to invite people into a fundamentally different relationship based on the Scriptural idea of neighbor.
To be neighbors is to practice mutual care and to honor the dignity and sacred worth of every person right where they are.
Housed or not, sober or not, whether individuals have overcome their personal struggles (obvious or invisible) or not.
The starting place is to relate as neighbors.
To interact as neighbors.
With care, dignity, mercy.
All big-picture/systemic changes emerge from this place and are built on this foundation.

Why this training matters for local churches:

#1. To equip congregations with a compassionate response to anyone living with a mental health diagnosis, to reduce stigma and foster a warmer culture of welcome and belonging in our own congregations and throughout the wider community.
#2. To learn actionable tools to navigate and respond to the growing needs of ILM's unhoused community - many who are seeking help from our faith communities.
#3. To increase awareness and care for our own mental health so that we can become healthier leaders who lead healthier congregations.

Big shoutout to our community partners Folks Cafe and Vigilant Hope Roasting for the coffee donations to The Anchor.

Can’t wait to share this good coffee with our neighbors on the street.

There are so many generous people doing such good work in Wilmington. What a gift to be in this together.

🚨Operation: RESTOCK THE SUPPLY SHELF Update🚨

Thank you all so much for the items you have bought to help us restock our paper products and coffee-supply shelves!

We have been blessed by a fantastic local partner (Folks Cafe !) with coffee donations, so we have moved coffee way down on our priority list. Please stop in their cafe when you are in town and enjoy good food and good coffee and beautiful people.

There are still plenty of items needed ranging from roughly $10-$20. Click on this link, purchase the items, and they are delivered right to our door.

We make a LOT of coffee around here and we share a lot food together- on Sunday mornings, at a lunch at Grace United Methodist Church - Wilmington NC called the Welcome Table, and we even share supplies with The Warming Shelter ILM when needed.

Last September, y'all showed up BIG to shop on our Amazon Wishlist and help supply The Anchor with some of our most basic needs. We didn't need to shop for coffee or creamer or cups and plates for almost a whole year!
