ARE WE JUST PLAYING AT BEING CHRISTIANS?

In today's daily Bible reading insight of 1 Corinthians 2, Paul talks about the "wisdom of this age" vs "the wisdom of God". The wisdom of this age speaks about power and force and control. The wisdom of God speaks about love and grace and forgiveness. I wonder... do we take seriously the wisdom of God to live lives of love and grace and forgiveness or... are we just playing at being Christians? Watch today's video to find out more...

West Willow UMC is a joyful community of Christ followers who love God and others as ourselves with grace. Our mission is to reach the broken-hearted and those far away from God. We worship each Sunday morning at 10:30am and would love for you to join us!

THE FOOLISHNESS OF THE CROSS!

In today's daily Bible reading insight of 1 Corinthians 1, we look at Paul's words in verse 18, "For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." (1 Cor 1:18 NRSV) What is the difference between perishing and being saved? Watch today's video to find out!

THE WISDOM OF FOOLS!

In today's WEEKEND EDITION of the daily Bible reading insight of Luke 24, we take a look at the women who were the first to arrive at the empty tomb. What's highly unusual about this narrative is the status of women in the culture of Jesus's day. They had none! No Status. No voice. No recognition. And yet THE WOMEN were the ones to first proclaim the Good News. What does this tell us about our own faith and witness to the world? Watch today's video to find out...

LOOKING FOR THE LIGHT!

In today's daily Bible reading insight of Luke 23, we read the story of Jesus's arrest and crucifixion. The religious authorities seem intent on making Jesus's death as humiliating as possible. They beat him mercilessly, heap scorn and shame on him. And then when things can't possibly get any worse, they throw in two common criminals to share in his death. Jesus doesn't even get to be the main focus! But as always, Jesus has a way of turning the scorn of man into the glory of God and does something in those last moments that is still talked about today. What does He do and why does it matter to our faith? Watch today's video to find out...

MINDFULNESS BOOK STUDY!

We had a wonderful group join us this morning for our Mindfulness Book Study. Our group is reading "How the Bible Actually Works" by author Peter Enns. It's a very thought provoking exploration of how the original Bible came to be and how we can apply it's truth and wisdom to become better followers of Jesus.
If you're free on Wednesday mornings at 10am and you're interested in lively discussion and debate of how best to discern God's Word then you should definitely join us!

Our Wesley UMC and West Willow UMC small group ministries seek to deepen and enrich the relationships with our church family outside of Sunday morning worship with opportunities to grow closer to each other and to God. If you don't see a small group that fits your schedule or interests, let us know. We'll create one for you!

SUMMER MORNING WORKOUT #4

We had a great crew this morning for our summer morning workout. In addition to our stretching, breathing exercises, and interval weight training, we added a injured/stretching station for a certain pastor with a strained lower back.
No matter what your fitness goals or fitness level, we can help you start your day with an hour of gratitude giving thanks to our Heavenly Father for the gift of health. We meet every Wednesday morning at 7am behind Wesley UMC.
