School 🚸is back in session, summer vacations 🏖🌅 are largely memories now (though the weather 🌞 is certainly holding tight to summer 🔥😓) and camp has wrapped up for the season at Disciples Center At Tawakoni.

However, with this change in seasons comes Tawakoni Treats again!

Thank you church for being with us for the past 4 weeks as we preached from Hebrews and watched clips from the movie McFarland.

YOU are now invited to watch McFarland in its entirety this Wednesday (Sept 9th) from 5 to 7:15 pm in the HCT room (next door to the Youth Room).

Bring a snack to share or just yourself and a neighbor or two. The Revs are cooking supper as a special treat (frozen pizza). 🥰

Why is having a regular time with God important? Well, we do this to spend time with God in order to deepen and strengthen our relationship with God who created us and yearns to be with us.

Here are some ideas to get you started:
1. Begin your devotional time by quieting yourself. Take a few deep breaths and become still.
2. Read a short passage in the Bible along with a resource such as The Upper Room or Disciplines that can guide you.
3. At the end of your reading time, be silent and wait to see what words, feelings, or images rise in your heart or tug at your thoughts. Notice what situations or people come to mind.
4. Consider how the words or images connect with your life; then pray and ask the Holy Spirit to help you to see what God may be saying to you through what you have read, thought, and felt and offer a prayer for continued learning and listening.

If you are just beginning to take time for reading the Bible and praying, plan to spend about ten minutes in this activity. As you become more comfortable with the process, you may find yourself spending a longer time.

In Matthew 18, Jesus provides practical teaching on handling disagreements. Our first responsibility is to go to the other party privately and then include others only as necessary. In Mark’s Gospel, it’s even simpler. Jesus summarizes much of the Law in one simple commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31).
