Pastor’s Verse of the Week

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.” — Philippians 4:4 (ESV)

Let’s face it, some days it’s a whole lot easier to rejoice than others.

When life is going well, the bills are paid, the family is healthy, and everything seems to be falling into place, it’s easy to praise God.

But what about those days when nothing seems to go right? When the bills keep coming, the doctor’s report isn’t what you hoped for, or you’re just plain tired of dealing with life’s struggles?

Notice what Paul says. He doesn’t say to rejoice when everything is going your way. He says to rejoice ALWAYS.

And here’s what makes that so powerful: Paul wrote these words while he was in prison. His circumstances were anything but pleasant, yet he still found a reason to rejoice.

Why? Because our joy isn’t supposed to depend on what’s happening around us. It comes from Who lives within us.

There’s a big difference between happiness and joy. Happiness often depends on our circumstances, but the joy we have in Christ can remain even when life gets difficult.

That doesn’t mean we have to pretend everything is okay. It doesn’t mean we won’t experience sadness, disappointment, or heartache.

It simply means that even in the middle of those difficult moments, we still have a God who loves us, walks with us, and will never leave us.

So here’s my encouragement for you this week:

Don’t let what’s going wrong in your life cause you to forget everything that’s still right about your God.

Find something to thank Him for today. Even if it’s something small.

Because no matter what this week brings, God is still good, God is still faithful, and God is still worthy of our praise!

Have a blessed week!

Pastor’s Verse of the Week

“The LORD is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him.” — Psalm 28:7 (ESV)

Life has a way of reminding us that we're not nearly as strong as we think we are.

There are days when we're tired, overwhelmed, discouraged, or simply don't know how we're going to handle one more thing.

But here's the good news: God never expected us to face life's battles in our own strength.

David reminds us that the Lord is both our strength and our shield. He's the One who gives us the strength to keep going, and He's the One who stands with us when life gets difficult.

Notice something else David says: “In him my heart trusts, and I am helped.”

Sometimes we're so busy trying to figure everything out ourselves that we forget to turn to the One who already has the answers.

You don't have to be strong enough for everything life throws at you. You just need to trust the One who is.

Whatever you're facing this week, remember that God is still faithful, still present, and still able.

And don't forget to thank Him for the battles He's already brought you through!

Have a blessed week!

We make plans every day. But what happens when life doesn’t go according to plan?

We plan for tomorrow, next week, next year, and sometimes years down the road. But the truth is, none of us knows what tomorrow will bring.

This Wednesday night at The Collective, we’re continuing our study through the Book of James with James 4:13–17 — “If the Lord Wills.”

James reminds us that there’s nothing wrong with making plans. The problem comes when we make those plans without considering God and His will for our lives.

We’ll talk about trusting God with our future, recognizing that every day is a gift, and why we shouldn’t put off doing what we know is right.

Here’s something to think about: Are we asking God to guide our plans, or are we simply asking Him to bless the plans we’ve already made?

Pastor’s Verse of the Week

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16 (ESV)

You never know who might be watching the way you live your life.

Sometimes it’s not the big things that make the biggest difference. It’s a kind word, a helping hand, showing grace when someone doesn’t deserve it, or simply being there when someone needs you.

Jesus reminds us that we’re called to be a light in a world that can be pretty dark sometimes.

But here’s something important to remember: We’re not supposed to shine so people will notice us. We’re supposed to shine so people will see Him.

The way we treat others, the words we speak, and the choices we make can all point someone toward Christ.

So here’s my challenge for you this week: Be the reason someone sees a little more of Jesus today.

You may never know the difference you made in someone’s life, but God does.

Have a blessed week!

October is Pastor Appreciation Month!

Here at Emmanuel Baptist Church, we are thankful for our pastor and the leadership God has provided for our church family. We recognize that pastoring is more than standing behind a pulpit on Sunday morning. It's a calling that comes with great responsibility, countless prayers, unseen sacrifices, and a genuine love for God's people.

But this month, we want to encourage not just our own church family, but every church family out there.

One of the greatest things you can do to show appreciation for your pastor doesn't cost a single penny.

Pray for your pastor! 🙏

Pray for wisdom as he leads, strength when he grows weary, protection over his family, encouragement when ministry becomes difficult, and above all, that he will remain faithful to God's Word.

Pastors aren't perfect. They're people just like the rest of us. They face struggles, experience discouragement, and need God's grace every single day.

Hebrews 13:7 reminds us to remember those who have spoken God's Word to us and to consider their example of faith.

To our fellow churches throughout Texoma and beyond: Whether your congregation has 20 people or 2,000, we're all part of something much bigger than any one church. We're serving the same God, sharing the same Gospel, and working toward the same purpose.

So this October, let's lift up the men God has called to shepherd His people.

Let's encourage one another, support one another, and most importantly, pray for one another.

From our church family at Emmanuel Baptist Church to yours, may God bless your pastor, your congregation, and the work you're doing for His Kingdom!

Different churches. One Savior. One mission.

Help Us Invest in Emmanuel Baptist Church

God has blessed Emmanuel Baptist Church, and we’re thankful for the place He has given us to worship, serve, and minister to our community. Like any building, though, there are repairs and needs that come up that fall outside our normal operating budget.

We’ve set a goal of raising $5,000 for our Building Fund to help us take care of some of these needs and repairs.

If you feel led to help, any amount would be greatly appreciated. You can simply scan the QR code below to give online. When giving through Tithely, please select “Building Fund” from the drop-down menu.

OR you can use this link: https://give.tithe.ly/?formId=7c3fdfda-6865-11ee-90fc-1260ab546d11

And even if you’re unable to give, we’d appreciate your prayers as we continue working to be good stewards of what God has entrusted to us.

Thank you for supporting the ministry of Emmanuel Baptist Church! ❤️

Pastor’s Verse of the Week

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)

We like to know what’s next. We want the answers, the plan, and some assurance that everything is going to work out the way we think it should.

But faith doesn’t always come with an explanation.

Sometimes God simply says, “Trust Me.”

When you don’t understand the circumstances, trust Him. When you can’t see what’s ahead, trust Him. When the path doesn’t make sense, trust Him.

God never promised that we would understand every step—but He did promise to direct our path when we put our trust in Him.

You don’t have to see the whole road when you know the One who is leading you.

Pastor’s Verse of the Week

“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7 (ESV)

We carry a lot of things God never intended for us to carry alone.
Worry about tomorrow. Concern for our families. Financial pressures. Health concerns. Decisions we don’t know how to make. Sometimes we carry those burdens so long that we forget there’s another option.

Give them to God.

Peter doesn’t say to give God some of your anxieties. He says all of them. And the reason is simple: because He cares for you.

Whatever is weighing heavy on your heart this week, you don’t have to carry it by yourself. Take it to the Lord and leave it in His hands.

He cares about what you’re going through because He cares about YOU.

Have a blessed week!

We spend a lot of time asking God questions…

Why did this happen?
What am I supposed to do?
Why haven't You answered yet?
God, what are You doing?

But what happens when God is the One asking the questions?

This Sunday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, we're beginning a brand-new four-week sermon series:

QUESTIONS GOD ASKS

When God asks the question, how will you answer?

Throughout Scripture, God asks questions—not because He doesn't know the answer, but because sometimes we need the question.

Over the next four Sundays, we'll look at four questions from the Old Testament that still speak directly to us today:

October 4 — “Where Are You?”
October 11 — “Where Is Your Brother?”
October 18 — “What Are You Doing Here?”
October 25 — “Is Anything Too Hard for the LORD?”

And this Sunday, we begin at the very beginning.

Adam has sinned. He's ashamed. He's hiding among the trees.
Then he hears the voice of God:

“Where are you?” — Genesis 3:9

God knew exactly where Adam was.

The question was whether Adam was willing to admit where he was.

And maybe that's a question all of us need to answer.

Not where you go to church.

Not where you used to be with God.

Not where everybody thinks you are.

Where are YOU with God right now?

Come join us this Sunday. We'd love to have you and your family!
