Position Summary: Provide safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care for children (ages 1–5) during Sunday services and occasional church events.
● Schedule: Sundays, 9:30–11:30 a.m. (~2 hrs/week; 8–10 hrs/month)
● Compensation: Starting at $20/hour (non-exempt)
● Reports to: Pastor & Personnel Committee
Core Responsibilities
● Supervise children ages 1–5 in a safe, welcoming environment
● Lead age-appropriate activities (books, crafts, play, storytelling)
● Maintain safe ratios and use positive guidance only
● Follow check-in/out procedures and ensure authorized pick-up
● Maintain hygiene, sanitation, and illness policies
● Communicate with parents and document incidents as needed
● Set up and clean nursery; monitor supplies
● Collaborate with staff and volunteers
Safety & Compliance
● Comply with WA mandatory reporting laws
● Complete background check (provided by church)
● Follow Safe Church and anti-harassment policies
● Adhere to emergency procedures
● Maintain a two-person or open-visibility environment
Qualifications
● Age 18+; high school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
● Childcare experience preferred
● CPR & First Aid (training provided if needed)
● Reliable, communicative, and safety-focused
● Able to lift 25 lbs (50 lbs with assistance)
