Let's contemplate the Seven Swords that pierced Her Immaculate Heart.
The Seven Sorrows are:
1 – The Prophecy of Simeon
2 – The Flight into Egypt
3 – The Loss of the Child Jesus in the Temple
4 – The Meeting of Jesus and Mary on the Way of the Cross
5 – The Crucifixion
6 – The Taking Down of the Body of Jesus from the Cross
7 – The Burial of Jesus

Let Us Pray: Let intercession be made for us, we beseech You, O Lord Jesus Christ, now and at the Hour of our death, before the throne of Your mercy, by the Blessed Virgin Mary, Your Mother, whose most holy soul was pierced by a sword of sorrow in the hour of Your bitter Passion. Through You, O Jesus Christ, Savior of the world, Who with the Father and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns world without end. Amen.

The feast of Maundy (or Holy) Thursday solemnly commemorates the institution of the Eucharist and is the oldest of the observances peculiar to Holy Week. On the Thursday of Holy Week, we recall the first Passover meal, also known as The Last Supper.

Here are a few more things to keep in mind on this day:

1) Also called Maundy Thursday.
*Maundy also means commandment.

On Holy Thursday, Jesus commanded us to love one another, saying: “Love one another, just as I have loved you, you should also love one another.” (John 13:34)

2) Jesus washed his disciples’ feet.

“If I, therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.” (John 13: 14-15)

3) Jesus instituted the Eucharist and the priesthood.

Jesus commanded his apostles to “do this in memory” and to celebrate the Eucharist until his return.

The institution of the Eucharist is mentioned in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. It is also shared in Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians. (Mt. 26:17-29; Mk. 14:12-25; Lk. 22:7-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-26)

4) Holy Thursday is the beginning of the Paschal Triduum.

This day is followed by Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Each of these days is significant as we prepare for Easter Sunday!

5) Following Mass, we adore the Blessed Sacrament at the Altar of Repose.

The faithful are invited to join in adoration and there is no traditional dismissal from Holy Thursday Mass.

How can the EWTN team pray for you during Holy Week?

All-powerful God, by the suffering and death of your Son, strengthen and protect us in our weakness. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

From Holy Week through Divine Mercy Sunday — and beyond — we should try not to miss out on these indulgences for ourselves or for any soul in...

Have you ever noticed how Holy Week begins… and the world simply carries on?

The same routines.
The same noise.
The same distractions.

And yet, everything has changed.

On this first Monday of Holy Week, Our Lord has already set His face toward the Cross… moving forward in silence… in obedience… in love.

St. Thérèse would have recognized this path.

She did not wait for great sacrifices.
She followed Jesus in the small ones… the hidden ones… the ones no one else could see.

Holy Week is not only lived in churches.

It is lived in the unnoticed moments of your day…
the patience you choose,
the words you hold back,
the offering no one sees but God.

This is where love is proved.

And here, you never have to wait for a certain day to ask for prayer.

Every day is prayer request day.

If something is on your heart… you may share it.
If you are carrying something within… you do not have to carry it alone.

Today, if you wish, pause for a moment and pray:

Jesus, let me walk with You in the small things this Holy Week.

Place a 🌹 in the comments when you’ve prayed.
