Today the Church celebrates the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Mary’s heart was completely devoted to God and perfectly united to the Heart of her Son. As we honor her Immaculate Heart, may we entrust ourselves to her maternal care and ask her to lead us ever closer to Jesus.

Today the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. In His Heart we see the depth of God’s love for humanity, a love that is merciful, faithful, and poured out for our salvation. May we draw near to the Heart of Christ, trust in His mercy, make reparation for sin, and allow His love to transform our hearts.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

What a beautiful celebration of the Solemnity of Corpus Christi today! Following Mass, we took our Lord in procession through the streets of Wheeling, publicly witnessing to our faith in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist. We concluded our celebration with benediction at St. Alphonsus Church, followed by a wonderful luncheon in Columbia Hall.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this cherished tradition. May our love for the Eucharist continue to deepen, and may Christ, truly present among us, draw us ever closer to Himself!

In celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the bishops of the United States will consecrate our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus!

Parishes throughout the country are being invited to join in this national act of prayer and devotion. Here at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, we will participate in the consecration following the 12:05 p.m. Mass on Friday, June 12 - the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart.

At a time when our nation faces many challenges, we turn with confidence to the Heart of Christ, the source of mercy, healing, hope, and peace. We invite you and your family to join us as we pray for our country and entrust it anew to the loving Heart of Jesus.
