The preposition for this weekend is INTO. We moved into the Angelus Center for our Sunday Masses.
Judging by the smiles and positive comments, it was a wonderful transition. Most importantly, we were together as a church family, gathered around the Eucharist. At the 9:00 a.m. Mass, Father Carlos welcomed parishioners and helped everyone find a seat. Thanks to a few sound-system tweaks, Father Rex and Deacon Krall were easily heard. And, perhaps the first time, many parishioners had the opportunity to both see and hear our folk group, who normally lead music from the choir loft where they are heard but not seen.
Our Children’s Liturgy of the Word continued as usual, too. The children still had their own special time to reflect on the Gospel. They didn’t have to take the long walk, they met in the Chambers Youth Room of the Angelus Center!
A different setting, the same faith, and a beautiful celebration of Mass.

It is time for a new preposition. Monday was OUT — as in the pews were removed, the boxed platforms on the altar are gone, and the altar, ambo, and font are now OUT of the church.
Today is UP. As in GLOW UP. The tabernacle is on its way to Pittsburgh for a deep cleaning and polishing. Angelina Stone was in the church today creating test areas for polishing the marble so we can compare the “before” and “after” — another glow-up in progress.
And while all of that is happening, the Angelus Center is being SET UP for the celebration of Mass beginning this weekend.

On Monday, June 8, at 8:30 a.m., was the official launch of our church renewal! A HUGE shout-out to the Knights of Columbus for carefully and respectfully moving many of our liturgical items to their temporary locations. Another HUGE thank you to Panhandle Cleaning & Restoration for sending a crew a day earlier than scheduled to help make pew adoption (aka Pewfest), a success. These photos capture just a glimpse of the incredible progress made yesterday and today. What once was a dream is now becoming reality. We are filled with gratitude for everyone who has helped bring us to this exciting milestone.

Sunday evening was a great night for our High School Youth Group!!! After a picnic dinner at Oglebay, everyone walked a trail and the listened to Father Luis discuss vocations and his personal journey into the priesthood! He shared two of his favorite reflections:
Saint Paul - When I am weak, I am strong
Saint Peter - Sanctify Christ as the Lord is in your Heart.
The night came to a close at Dupes Scoops. Owner Luke Duplaga was happy to welcome the Youth Group!

At our Faith and Business luncheon series, we were blessed to hear from Joe Slavik, Director of the Howard Long Wellness Center. Joe reflected on his faith journey and lifelong pursuit of a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ. It was inspirational! All guests also enjoyed a delicious lunch, courtesy of Paul Curnes, a member of our Finance Council. Our next session is July 30, save the date!
