Brothers & Sisters,

This Sunday, we’ll be taking the Lord’s Supper together. Pastor Ricky will be continuing on in Matthew 22:23-33. His sermon in a sentence is this: “The resurrection is the greatest evidence of God’s everlasting covenant faithfulness.” The Sadducees (who do not believe the Torah provides ample evidence of the resurrection) seek to challenge the Lord Jesus, but they too, like the Pharisees before them, fail. In a brief summary provided by Pastor Ricky, I wanted to share this: “From Exodus 3, [Jesus] shows us that the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is presently still their God. The covenant God established with Abraham is one that was made with a promise that extends beyond the grave and to the heavens. He was told that from this line would come a Savior and descendants that would number more than the stars. We are those descendants who receive the promise of resurrection as we place our faith in Jesus.”

It seems fitting then for us to sing Here Is Love as a response to this sermon. Consider especially this wonderful line:

“Here is love vast as the heavens
Countless as the stars above
Are the souls that He has ransomed
Precious daughters, treasured sons”

We will sing of the weight of our sin, and the exceeding power of God grace as shown through the giving of His Son in Grace Greater Than Our Sin; of the present hope of resurrection life in I’ll Fly Away; and, through 2 Corinthians 5, be led to see how our hope of future glory in resurrected bodies directly connects to our present commission to be ambassadors for Christ — accordingly, we’ll sing a prayerful song that God would both raise up workers and strengthen our conviction to be salt & light to the lost around us in Lord of the Harvest Hear.

Brothers & Sisters,

This Sunday, we’ll be witnessing and celebrating two baptisms! Accordingly, Pastor Ricky will be preaching out of a few selected texts on this ordinary, yet supernatural, means of grace that is Believer’s Baptism. Would you join me in taking a moment to pray for Benjamin and Danielle?

We will be singing All I Have Is Christ to remind ourselves of the full reality of the Gospel, as illustrated through the baptisms we’ll have just seen. Then we’ll take a moment for a responsive reading on obediently following Christ as a result of this newness of life before we sing, in response, I Surrender All. We’ll sing There Is A Fountain, yet again glorying in the saving reality we now live in, as well as the future glory we have to look forward to when we will all be able to truly live out this most wonderful reality:

“’Till all the ransomed church of God be saved to sin no more
be saved to sin no more
be saved to sin no more
’till all the ransomed church of God be saved to sin no more!”

After the sermon, we’ll sing Blessed Assurance, to respond to these truths. We’ll receive the benediction and unite ourselves to God as we close with the Doxology.

Beginning Monday, August 31, 2026 FBC Weston's Office Hours will be changing. Pastor Ricky will hold regular Office Hours Tuesday-Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Pastor Daniel will hold regular Office Hours from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday-Thursday unless otherwise noted. Notifications of church and office closures will come through regular forms of communication. While these hours are for working on administrative duties, sermon preparation, and Sunday morning service planning these are also the hours for welcomed drop-ins and/or meetings.

Pastor Ricky will be moving his day off to Mondays to spend time resting with family and will be unavailable with the exception of emergency pastoral needs. While the Church Office will remain closed on Fridays Pastor Ricky will be available by appointment and/or digital means.
