Before he died, St. Dominic promised his brother Preachers that he would "assist us even after his death." Throughout the centuries, the intercession of St. Dominic on behalf of the Order of Preachers and the Church as a whole has continued to inspire countless men and women to preach the Truth from the heart of the Church. This hymn, the "O Lumen," which is sung every night at Compline (Night Prayer), is solemnly chanted in procession towards an image of St. Dominic. In praise of St. Dominic, we are reminded of the virtues associated with his preaching and the witness of his life!

O light of the church,
teacher of truth,
rose of patience,
ivory of chastity,
You freely poured forth
the waters of wisdom,
preacher of grace,
unite us with the blessed.

The beauty of the Church is reflected in the liturgical vestments priests wear when celebrating Holy Mass. This fiddleback chasuble, St. Thomas Aquinas' oldest vestment, depicts Jesus as the Good Shepherd.

We don't have record of when this chasuble was made, but it's an important piece of both our parish history and the history of the Catholic Church. Swipe to learn more!
