Christianity Without the Cross Is Impossible

Pastor Mark Goeglein delivers this sermon at Abiding Savior Luthera...

Our Abiding Savior Lutheran Church is located on the corner of 6th and Westgate Dr. When people ask where our church is located it amazes me how many people know our church. Many of them drive by each day. A while back one individual mentioned how much they enjoy reading our sign board out in front of the building. Each week, a couple from our congregation tend to the message. Mark and Janice Williams have faithfully selected the appropriate message not only to our members who attend church but also to everyone who passes by. Thank you Mark and Janice.

While at church today I took some pictures of the beautiful and spiritual enlightening stained glass windows. I would like to share them with you now.

Next weekend will be the final worship service from Rev. Mark Goeglein. The month that he was here went by so fast. Starting in September, Rev. John Schroeder will be our vacancy pastor. He will be leading worship with us on the first and third weekends, when we have Communion. On the second and fourth weekend services he will be providing for us the worship service with the sermon that the councilmen will be leading. I have asked him to consider having a Bible study on the Sunday's that he is here. If he feels that he could do this, I will post the topic of the study here.

When in the Hour of Utmost Need

This evening, Rev. David Strucely phoned me to tell me he was returning the Divine Call to be our next pastor. He will be sending a letter for me to read to the congregation this Sunday. I will also be posting it to this site as well.

I notified District President Paul Seager of his decision. Rev. Seager said that he will be in contact with me to set up a time for another call meeting.

Until the end of August, Rev. Mark Goeglein will serve as our vacancy pastor. Any spiritual needs please contact him or send an email to [email protected]. I check this email daily.

Starting in September, Rev. John Schroeder will serve as our vacancy pastor. I will post more information on him next week.

As I continue to say, God has a plan for Abiding Savior. He will direct the next shepherd to lead us.

In Christ,

Mark Probst, President

The Williams and the Probst's usually go there for brunch after the 10 o'clock church service. Very nice people and lots of good food. Located on Bridge St. south of 8th Street.
