Today we will celebrate the Feast of the Nativity of the Mary, the Mother of God, with Festal Orthros at 5 p.m. and Divine Liturgy at 6 p.m. The rest of the week's schedule is the same as usual.

According to Holy Tradition and Scripture, September 1st is the approximate day Jesus Christ entered the synagogue in Nazareth and read from the prophet Isaiah, publicly announcing His ministry.

Incense is woven through the Scriptures, from the tabernacle in Exodus to the throne room in Revelations. Incense represents our prayers rising to God.

As incense burns and prayers are offered, the faithful ask the Lord to accept the prayer in order to rise to His heavenly throne, just as the fragrant incense ascends to the heavens.

"Let my prayer rise as incense before You; the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice." (Psalm. 140.2)

Our little corner of Western Ave. and Maiden Lane continues to develop and grow. What started nine years ago as a residential home and garage has evolved into fellowship space, a church, a bell tower, beautiful landscaping, and now a new fellowship hall. God is good!

🌟After months of prayers, planning and hard work, our new Fellowship Hall is nearly complete! Just a few punch-list items left. We were able to use the space for coffee hour after Divine Liturgy yesterday for the first time! Thank you to everyone who put in the work and prayed for this new space.

After we hopefully all got a bit of rest, we came back together at church this afternoon for the second part of our Pascha celebration: Agape Vespers. Known as the Vespers of Love, this is a special continuation of the Resurrection celebration where we read the Gospel account of Christ first appearing to his disciples after the Resurrection in as many languages as people speak in attendance, symbolizing God's love for all nations. Today we had English, Greek, Romania, Italian, Finnish, French, Spanish, German and Vietnamese. Then we had a celebratory procession around the church, followed by a feast and egg hunt.
