Consider the nature of consumer culture. So much in this world is self-centered, which is contrary to the history of fighting for justice and equality amidst the Civil Rights Movement, Black Consciousness, and Black Lives Matter movements.

Have I bought things that were cheaper without regard to what was sacrificed in sweatshops and factories around the globe? Have I prioritized my comfort over the dignity of others? Have I forgotten to consider the impact of holding on to my wealth and being overly concerned about my personal purchasing power, desires, and needs?

It is my responsibility to seek out ways to value others across God’s creation so that all know that all are loved. I must advocate for community transformation by the Spirit, say I’m sorry, and it’s up to me to do the work to make things right through the righteousness of Christ.

Michelle and Doreen Armstrong share their journey from fear and exclusion to healing and belonging.

After years of believing there was no place for them in the church, they discovered a community where they could be fully themselves and experience faith not as a source of shame, but as a source of love, grace, and healing.

Michelle shares with us that she knows her relationship with God has never changed, saying, "He loved me before I knew I was q***r, and He loves me now."

Their testimony is a reminder that God's love is not something we earn, and that there is room at Christ's table for all people.

Join us in prayer for the fires throughout the state, including and particularly the “upriver fire” in Spokane Valley.

Spokane Valley is the Red Cross evacuation site, and they are supposed to host hundreds for the Annual Conference next week.

Prayers for firefighters, evacuees, and all those dealing with complicated logistics.
