We will show our support for our adult mission team as we commission them to head to Black Mountain, NC to work on Hurricane Helene rebuilding. We will also be lifted up with special music by the women of St. Andrew's Parish of Nairobi who are visiting with us this week.

Following worship, come to Woods Chapel to enjoy special treats and celebrate with Pastor Matt and his wife Rachel as they anticipate the arrival of their baby girl!

It’s that time of year - back to school for the kids and back down south for the birds! September is one of two main times when millions of birds come thru St. Louis along the Mississippi flyway. Unfortunately, St. Louis is one of the deadliest cities in the country for birds given its location on the flyway and its many artificial lights. As a Lights Out Heartland Building Partner, WGPC turns off its outdoor lights to help protect these birds. Join us and do the same - its easy and saves you money. If its been awhile since you’ve seen a truly “dark sky”, take a couple of minutes to view the breathtaking photos from International Dark Sky’s global competition! God’s creation is a wonder and absolutely magical. How blessed are we to call this Earth home!

We will be helping our children, youth and educators prepare to head back to school with Blessing of the Backpacks! Everyone can bring their backpacks to church, and during worship we'll have a special time for students of all ages and adults who work in education to come forward for this special blessing and receive a backpack tag.

Following worship, come to Woods Chapel for breakfast where Chris Cakes will be flippin' and flyin' pancakes straight onto your plate!

We will have information about the Faith Formation classes as well as info tables from Mission and Music.

Following worship we will have the joy of celebrating Ken Kastner with a reception in the Chapel. Come enjoy special treats and thank Ken for his years of service and friendship.

Also today we congratulate Eliza Thompson on becoming her troop's 1st female Eagle Scout! Eliza's Court of Honor Ceremony is today and we celebrate with her and her family! Thank you to those who supported her feminine hygiene drive that benefited LifeWiseStl and helped to complete her requirements.

Please join us this Sunday, August 16th to recognize and give thanks for the blessing of Ken Kastner. For the last 15 years he worked part-time as a custodian helping prepare our church for weddings, funerals, celebrations, special events, worship, meetings and everything in between. He did so with grace and humor and a servant's heart.

We will have refreshments in honor of Ken and Julie and get a chance to thank him and wish him well. If you choose, cards and gifts can be brought to worship that day.
