Join us this morning at 9:30am in person or online (https://wgpc.org/online-worship) as the Rev. Dr. Edward Thompson leads us in worship. We will be lifting up Pastor Ed and Pastor Matt as they are on their pilgrimage on the Camino De Santiago (Way of St. James) via the “Northern Way” from San Sabastian to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Temperatures in the region are extremely high this week, so prayers for strength and good health are appreciated!

Today we also have the special joy of welcoming Shyheim Hinnant to worship as our guest soloist. Hailing from Woodbridge, Virginia, Shyheim Hinnant is a multidisciplinary artist known for his warm bass-baritone voice. As a singer, songwriter, actor, and electric bass player, he has dedicated his life to creating art and inspiring others. Shyheim is in residence during the months of May and June at Opera Theatre of St. Louis with a role in "The Pirates of Penzance".

Following worship come enjoy treats, coffee, and a time of fellowship in Disciples Hall!

Our youth group has safely returned from an amazing mission trip to Colorado! Eighteen youth and adults spent the week serving at La Puente Home, Inc. in Alamosa. They cooked and served meals, volunteered in a community thrift store, went stargazing, moved 9 cords of wood and much, much more! What an incredible group of young people! We are grateful for their safe travels and filled with joy seeing them serving and smiling!

What a busy day we have ahead of us! We will begin the day with worship at 9:30am in person or online (https://wgpc.org/online-worship) where Pastor Matt will lead the service and our youth mission team will be commissioned. At the end of worship our congregation will move as one from the sanctuary into the newly renovated Woods Chapel to dedicate it to God and to celebrate its near completion. It will be a short walk, but a meaningful one. A moment of transition. A threshold crossed together.

Finally, starting at 1:00 we will host a Wear Orange March to bring awareness to gun violence. Check-in begins at 1:00 in the Narthex followed by a Welcome Service in the Sanctuary at 1:30 and the march to Emmanuel Episcopal at 1:45. Come Celebrate the Opening of Woods Chapel With Us on June 7

Dear Friends,

There is something deeply human, and deeply holy, about making a pilgrimage. Throughout Scripture and across centuries of faith, people have journeyed to sacred spaces not simply to arrive, but to be transformed along the way.

On Sunday, June 7, we will make that kind of journey together.

To end our 9:30 worship service that day, our congregation will move as one from the sanctuary into the newly renovated Woods Chapel to dedicate it to God and to celebrate its near completion. It will be a short walk, but a meaningful one. A moment of transition. A threshold crossed together.

Woods Chapel has been renewed, and in walking into it together, we renew something in ourselves as well. The spaces where we gather shape us. The beauty, light, and intentional design of our new worship space opens us to the presence of God in new ways.

This moment is woven into the larger story of who we are as Webster Groves Presbyterian Church turns 160 this year! For a century and a half, generations of faithful people have gathered, worshipped, grieved, celebrated, and grown in this place. Woods Chapel is not a departure from that story, it is the next leg of our sacred journey. Your presence on June 7 is part of that story!

I hope you will come. Bring your family. Invite a neighbor. This is a day for all of us. Worship begins at the usual time and ends with a pilgrimage to Woods Chapel. Refreshments, fellowship, and the joy of discovery await. Together we shall Renew, Reopen, and Rejoice!

-Pastor Ed
