WELS Missions

WELS Missions WELS Missions - made up of Home and World Missions - seeks to share Christ's love. We have before us the largest mission field the world has ever seen.

Over 8 billion people inhabit this earth. 375 million of those reside in the United States and Canada. Christ’s love is the greatest treasure we share as we walk together toward our heavenly home. It is a treasure that goes to work in our hearts and moves us to share Christ’s compassion for the lost. There are so many in this world who do not know that this love in Christ is God’s gift to us all.

For this reason, WELS Missions is eager to carry out our calling to preach the Good News to every neighbor, and in every nation. Into a world that desperately needs it, our home and world missionaries and national church partners bring the light of God’s Word. With this powerful tool deployed and in the hands of the Lord of the Church, our work is bearing much fruit. The Lord has been using WELS Missions to share the gospel in expected and unexpected places. God still opens doors. May the Lord bless our work together as we take the treasure of Christ’s love and share it with a world that will be lost without it.

“God’s Word is powerful, and in his time, he will accomplish His purpose.”

Years ago, Kingsbury, missionary on the Asia-Oceania Team, became friends with a university student named Richard while doing mission work. They studied the Bible together, invited him to church, and watched as his interest in Jesus and the Christian faith grew. Yet Richard wasn’t ready to follow Christ.

Eventually, they lost touch, Dan began to wonder if the seeds of faith he had planted would ever bear fruit.

Nine years later, Richard reached out to Dan with life-changing news: he had become a Christian!

Even when we do not see immediate fruit, we can trust that God will bring the harvest in His time.

Rev. Dan Lindner, campus ministry mission counselor, recently traveled to Gainesville, Florida, for the dedication service at Zion Lutheran Church—but that wasn’t all!

While in Gainesville, Rev. Lindner also had the opportunity to connect with students attending the University of Florida and join them for an on-campus Bible study. What a great opportunity to encourage students in their faith and help them stay connected to God’s Word while away at college!

WELS Campus Ministry seeks to provide connection, community, Bible studies, and additional resources for college-aged students—whether they’re on campus, near a local WELS or ELS congregation, or joining online.

The Gerling and Kroll families have officially arrived in Dakar, Senegal! 🇸🇳

They are beginning to settle into their new home, learn about the country and culture, and take their first steps into the work God has called them to. As part of this journey, both families are beginning their studies at CBI, Centre Baobab International, where they will learn more about Senegal, its people, culture, and Muslim faith.

As they build relationships, listen, learn, and seek to understand the community around them, they are trusting God to guide each step of this exploratory mission. Their hope is to develop meaningful relationships and discover opportunities to share the good news of the gospel with those in Senegal and beyond.

Please keep the Gerling and Kroll families in your prayers as they begin this exciting new chapter. “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.” — Proverbs 19:21

Please pray with us!

Lord Jesus, we thank you for your mercy, love, and the living hope you have given through your cross and empty tomb. In the desert land of North Marana, Ariz., where hearts can feel dry and weary, please help the members of this new mission church share the comfort, hope, and peace of your gospel. Bless their efforts as they reach out to neighbors, families, and lost souls with your saving Word. Give strength to those who serve, courage to those who speak, and by your Spirit open hearts through your Word. May your light shine brightly in North Marana, and may many come to know the joy of your forgiveness and grace. All praise and glory belong to you alone! Amen.

One hundred fifty years is a long time to remain faithful to the truth that compelled you into existence—and to the relationships that helped sustain you.

We give special thanks to God this year for our Christian brothers and sisters of the Evangelical Lutheran Free Church (ELFK) in Germany. For 150 years, God’s grace and power helped them weather many trials, remain faithful to his Word, and preserve our blessed fellowship.

What an amazing weekend at Zion Lutheran Church in Gainesville, Florida! On August 23, 2026, Zion hosted a dedication service following the completion of their building project. Rev. Mark Gabb, home mission administrator, joined the celebration and preached for the dedication service.

The dedication was a wonderful opportunity to thank God for all the work he has done at Zion and through its ministry to the local college community. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the weekend so special. We pray God continues to bless Zion and its ministry for years to come!

For Pastor Micah Neumann and his wife, Rebecca, moving to Cedar Lake, Indiana, to begin a new mission start has brought plenty of questions—including one that comes up again and again: “What am I going to do today?”

Since arriving, Neumann has seen God turn everyday activities into opportunities for ministry. Conversations with neighbors, visits to local schools, and simple acts of kindness have opened doors to share God’s Word and point people to Christ. Now, he finds himself asking a different question each day: “What has God done today?”

Read more about their first months in Cedar Lake and the opportunities God is placing all around them.
