“Jesus Christ has the power to overcome the devil, and he is the true God.”

Those simple words printed on a small brochure reached a remote village in Laos in 1950 and—through the power of the Holy Spirit—sparked a movement that has brought hundreds of thousands to faith in Christ across Southeast Asia and beyond.

In this inspiring story, Bounkeo Lor, now president of the Hmong Evangelical Lutheran Church (HELC), shares how God used a single gospel message to transform generations, open doors for ministry in Vietnam, and led him to his new role as president of the Hmong Evangelical Lutheran Church (HELC).

Congratulations to our two winners, Ms. Natalie Leach and Ms. Lauren Pralle, that tied for the Taste of Missions "Fan Favorite" poster. These two ladies just finished their sophomore year at Luther High School in Onalaska, Wis., and are members at St. Paul's in Onalaska, Wis. They each will receive a Taste of Missions swag bag and $100 Amazon gift card.

Hear from a few of the 16 college students from WELS campus ministries at South Dakota State University (SDSU), the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, and the University of Wisconsin–Stout who spent their spring breaks serving in Southern California through Mission Journeys.

Their week of service concluded with a campus ministry retreat, offering opportunities for reflection, fellowship, and spiritual growth.

On May 28, 2026, a graduation ceremony was held in the chapel of the Lutheran Church of Central Africa Seminary in Lusaka, Zambia, to celebrate 15 graduates who recently completed a multi-year continuing education program coordinated through the Pastoral Studies Institute (PSI) and the One Africa Team (OAT).

The cohort of 15 pastors represents several of our sister church bodies in Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, and Zambia.

May God bless this year's graduates as they continue their work of proclaiming the gospel and sharing Christ's love with others.

Please pray with us!

Lord Jesus, thank you for gathering students around your Word of grace during their college years. As they hear a variety of perspectives and face many temptations, give them clarity in your Truth and surround them with faithful Christian friends and mentors. Bless pastors, congregations, and campus ministries as they welcome, teach, and walk alongside these young people. May your Holy Spirit strengthen their faith and shape their gifts for your service. Send these students out—battle-tested and joyful—to share your gospel wherever you lead them. Amen.
