Join us for a powerful and inspiring evening of interfaith conversation as we celebrate 250 years of religious freedom in America.

Hear from a nationally renowned expert and a diverse panel of faith leaders as they explore one of America’s most fundamental freedoms—the freedom to believe, worship, and live according to one’s faith.

Together, we’ll celebrate our nation’s extraordinary heritage of religious liberty, examine why it remains vital today, and engage in meaningful conversation about challenges facing religious freedom in America today.

Meet The Warren’s! They recently concluded a Senior Service Mission for Employment Services. Here is what Evelyn had to share about her recent experience:

“Serving a Senior Mission is such a blessing. My husband and I were just released from serving for a year as Employment Service Missionaries. We have grown closer together as we have helped each other learn how to help those who are seeking employment. I have discovered that the Lord‘s kingdom is built in such a way that He shows us and teaches us how to care for our brothers and sisters through many different callings. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to bless the lives of others through serving this mission. I would encourage all seniors who can and are willing to serve a mission to add this to your bucket list. You will be filled with lasting friendships and a closer walk with God. In the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN”

D&C 4:3 - “If ye have desires to serve God, ye are called to the work.”

September 11th is ‘National Day of Service’ – What are your plans for doing good in the community this year?

Hannah Richardson, Athens 2nd Ward, is a mentor – and more mentors are still needed for this school year! She shared:

“I have found joy and purpose in serving children in our community the last three years through the Storytellers Literacy Mentor program run by Books for Keeps.

As a volunteer literacy mentor, I get to focus on creating joyful and positive literacy experiences with two students who are assigned to me for the school year. It is so rewarding to build a relationship with these kids and help them become better and more engaged readers! You can make a difference in a child’s life with just 1 hour a week. Training, activities, and on-site support is provided, and no prior mentor experience is required.

The program is evaluated by a third-party and has been found to be an overwhelming success. The data shows that having a mentor boosts both students’ reading scores and attendance rates.”

In celebration of America’s 250th birthday on July 4, 2026, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints collaborated with the America250 campaign on several initiatives – including the delivery of 250 truckloads of shelf-stable food to communities across all 50 states.

One of these truckloads - carrying 40,000 pounds of food – was delivered to the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia on Thursday, August 27th. The Food Bank of Northeast Georgia serves 15 Georgia counties, including Clarke, Jackson, and Barrow. This truckload of food is estimated to feed about 1,400 people for a week.

Rosie Rios, Chair, America250, shared the following with respect to this initiative: “America’s 250th celebration is a unifying moment for our country, and the Church’s efforts are a beautiful example of the American spirit – neighbor caring for neighbor in service and generosity.”

President Dexter Joyner of the Athens Stake was on hand to receive the delivery on Thursday where he was joined by Senator Frank Ginn, Representative Eric Gisler and Kelly Klein from the Food Bank.

It's time to say goodbye - to Elder Mike Jones and his wife, Sister Wai Jones - who have been serving the Elberton Ward in the Athens Stake since September 2024. Kristen Boucher (pictured with her husband Joe and two children, Kai and Amaya) shared the following tribute to them:

"We are filled with so much gratitude for them because they were an answer to our prayers in laying down a solid scripture based foundation for our family with meals and lessons shared for those two years in our home. I cannot even begin to list their endless contributions for our church members or the amount of love you feel from Our Heavenly Father through them. We love them eternally!"

The Jones' are preparing to return home to Utah at the end of this month. From Christmas events to Easter events and the 'every day' in between, they have been a blessing both in Elberton and our stake in countless ways, and they will surely be missed!

God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again, Elder & Sister Jones!

Gooooaaalllll!

During the recent FIFA World Cup tournament, Jeff Brown of the Loganville Ward was one of approximately 2,000 volunteers selected from a pool of 50,000+ applicants to serve as a Host City Ambassador at the Atlanta Fan Fest in Centennial Olympic Park. From scanning VIP tickets to greeting fans from around the world, taking photos and helping children participate in coordinated activities, Jeff’s priority was ensuring guests had a positive experience.

Through his efforts, Jeff shared that he could feel the love of his Savior for all of God’s children. The opportunity allowed him to multiply his own talents in communication, adaptability and problem solving while interacting with a diverse international community and contributing to the success of one of the largest public events of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“It was a tremendous honor and blessing to be chosen to help welcome the world to Atlanta and serve as a smiling, friendly face for visitors from across the globe.”

Well done, Jeff! It looks like you were having quite a bit of fun out there yourself as an Ambassador!
