What a joy to be present for the groundbreaking of the new park for the Walnut Neighborhood!

First Presbyterian was primarily represented by those in the congregation who could attend but also by the left over ice cream cookie sandwiches we assisted in making for the fundraiser a week or so ago.

The park is scheduled to be finished in November, and the coordinators for the project have said construction might even begin by tomorrow, September 4!

Our prayer is that this park brings joy to all who use it. May God continue to bless the residents and friends of Walnut Neighborhood.

Today was the first day of school at Dr. Walter Cunningham School for Excellence. We were honored to be part of the team greating the students back to school as they walked the red carpet.

The school welcomes more red carpet greeters tomorrow starting at 8:15. Stop by and wish the children well as they begin their new year.

“But Jesus called the children to him and said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.’” (Luke 18:16)

Today was Mission Sunday at First Presbyterian. It was a blessing and an honor to have representatives from four of the agencies we support in worship with us. They brought the message about our call to be Jesus' hands and feet in our community by sharing what each of them does and why they do it. The agencies represented were The Salvation Army of Waterloo Cedar Falls, Friends of the Family, The Eastside Ministerial Alliance, and Love INC of the Cedar Valley.
