Our church is dedicated to aiding the less fortunate. Establishe

d in the heart of Washington, D.C., we have aided the less fortunate for over 25 years now. Many of those who we helped were able to get back on their feet and start their lives anew. VPCOG Church History:
In 1981, the Lord gave Pastor Brenda Anderson a dream. The Lord said, “Get the bread out and you will have many snowy days.” The Lord also said, “I called you”. The Lord gave her the scripture found in Jeremiah 1:5, “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” The Lord tells Pastor Anderson that, “I am going to send you where my people will not go.” Obeying the Lord and following His every command, the Lord directed Pastor Anderson to begin Compel Them Outreach (formally known as Compel Them Street Ministries). Again God provides the scripture found in Luke 14:23 to Pastor Anderson, “And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.”

From 1981-1996 Pastor Brenda Anderson performed street ministry activities, including preaching, feeding the homeless, conducting in house Bible Studies, kid clubs programs, and the like all of which was actually conducted on the street or in the home. Everything conducted inside the church was performed on the street corner. In other words, church was held outside. In 1996 God spoke to Pastor Brenda Anderson and said, “House the ministry.” Again being led and directed by God, Pastor Anderson obeyed God. Under the leadership of the DELMARVA-DC Administrative Bishop, Dwight Spivey, Pastor Anderson was able to acquire use of a building for the first indoor service on March 15, 1996. This building was known as Barnett’s (a popular restaurant and night club) located on 601 Division Avenue, Washington DC. Out of the ministry Victory Praise Church of God was birthed and established in 1999. The ministry building location changed and moved over to 4403 Gault Place NE, in Washington, DC for which worship service was held in a one bedroom apartment. On December 18, 2000, the entire apartment building, another building, and the middle lot was purchased and paid for in cash with the help of the DELMARVA-DC Administrative Bishop, J. Martin Taylor. The DELMARVA-DC Church of God ministers came together along with Bishop J. Martin Taylor to collect the needed monies for purchase of the church property, and this is where we are presently worshipping.
