Giving Tuesday (11/30/21) and year-end donation season
are a special time of the year for those with generous hearts
to financially empower organizations in whose vision and mission they believe. This giving Tuesday, I ask that you
prayerfully consider investing in Greater Love Church. We are
a church right in the heart of one of the most under-
resourced communities of Washington, DC, and we believe
this is exactly where God wants us to be. We exist “to see the broken healed through Christ” in
Deanwood and beyond by being “a family of realness, refuge, and restoration that reaches the
broken.” By God’s grace, we have been patiently laboring to that end for the past seven years.
The Lord has used the sacrificial giving of our congregation and the generosity of partners like
you, who understand the economic complexities of serving under-resourced communities. We
pray that he might stir up more hearts who would like to make an eternal investment that has
an immediate impact.
This giving Tuesday, we seek to
raise $26,000 to accomplish four goals: 1)
evangelize 23,603 homes and provide five
follow up block party outreaches, 2)
provide 52 dinners for our youth group’s
weekly gatherings, 3) host God’s Place
Summer Camp to protect and disciple
children during the dangerous summer
months, and 4) replace ailing sound equipment in our church sanctuary. Each one of these goals
has eternal value and immediate impact. First, through our evangelistic goal, every family in the
20019 area code will have an opportunity to hear the gospel and potentially connect to our
local church. Also, in our follow-up outreaches, we will feed the community, give away home
goods and other resources, and proclaim the gospel through music and preaching. Second, by
feeding our youth group weekly, we ensure their spiritual nourishment and physical, which in
the inner city is a necessity for effective ministry.
Third, our summer camp is a staple in the inner
city, especially for working parents who need childcare
while school is out. Our day camp provides healthy
breakfasts and lunches for the children, which the
schools offer during the school year, but we can fill
that gap during the summer. God’s Place also keeps
the children out of harm’s way during the summer
months, which tend to be the most violent months of
the year. What better place is there for a child to be than with the people of God, providing
enriching activity and discipleship? Fourth, our worship gathering has been in some ways
impeded by a dying sound system that is limited in its ability to project audio quality and
instrumentation. A new sound system would significantly enhance our church’s sound quality,
which is a part of our offering of praise to the living God. We want to participate in the eternal
song of heaven without distraction.
