Sharon Baptist Church of Washington, DC

Sharon Baptist Church of Washington, DC "A Church purposed to do the Will of God" Sharon Baptist Church was organized by Reverend L. R.

Artist in 1917 at 2301 V Street, NW in Washington, DC with just four (4) members and nine (9) candidates for baptism. Although the church went through many turbulent times, which is not uncommon for any aspiring ministry. God was faithful and made provisions which would surmount every obstacle. On March 31, 1965 the ground was purchased for our current edifice. August 8, 1965 the ground breaking c

eremony was held for our current edifice. On New Year's Day, January 1, 1967 the proud members of Sharon Baptist Church marched into our present location and gave praises to God for His great faithfulness unto us. On April 6, 1968 the dedicatory ceremony was held for our current edifice. Today Sharon Baptist Church is a church on a mission to fulfill the plan of God. God has continued to bless and prosper the Sharon Baptist Church family. We are so excited about all that God has in store for us as we continue to build upon the great history of our church.

On Behalf of Rev. Dr. Kevin Graves & The Sharon Baptist Church Family, We send our deepest condolences to the family of Rev. Lincoln M. Burruss, Jr. & Central Baptist Church of Camp Springs. He was truly a great man of God. We had the honor of having Rev. Burruss as our Guest Preacher for our 107th Church Anniversary in October 2024. Our prayers are with the family at this time.

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.”

It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Deaconess HAZEL HILL. She served as Deaconess, Nurses Ministry, and was known for singing “He’s An On Time God” & “Jesus Will Pick You Up” with the C.M. Ford Ensemble (aka The Singing Inspirations).
