Almighty God, on this 25th anniversary of September 11, we remember.
We remember the lives lost, each one beloved, each one known fully by you. We remember families who still carry absence, first responders who ran toward danger, and ordinary people who, in an extraordinary moment, chose courage, compassion, and neighborliness.
We remember the fear and grief of that day, but we also remember what rose up in the midst of it: courage, sacrifice, generosity, and love.
God of all nations, make us a people who refuse to surrender to fear. Lead our nation in the ways of justice, mercy, reconciliation, and peace.
Remind us that darkness never has the final word. Light always finds its way through. Hope rises. Love endures.
On this day of remembrance, make our remembering holy— not only looking back at what was lost, but looking forward with renewed resolve to build a world more worthy of those we remember.
May we be people of courage.
May we be people of peace.
May we be people of hope.
And above all, may we be people of love.
Amen.
