Proof that a small, dedicated team can move mountains—or in this case, piles of wood chips!

A huge thank you to Whit, Ann, and Miyuki for stepping up to help collect and haul wood chips for the Trinity Rewilding Garden!

Another thank you for Lori, who generously donated the chips. We now have a rich, protective mulch layer ready to lock in moisture and nourish our soil beds ahead of planting season.

Building a community sanctuary takes a true team effort, and today was a fantastic demonstration of what we can do together. Thank you for bringing your energy, your trucks, and your shovels! 🙌

Welcome to the Garden: Barbara's Buttons (Marshallia obovata) 🌿🌸

Meet one of the native species coming soon to the Trinity Rewilding Garden!

Barbara's Buttons is a unique native wildflower that brings distinct beauty and early-season life to the Southeastern landscape.

Why we’re excited to plant it:

🌸 In mid-to-late spring, it shoots up delicate, globe-like white blossoms that offer an early food source for native bees, butterflies, and beneficial beetles.

🍃 Its low rosette of leaves remains evergreen through the winter, forming a natural ground cover that protects soil from erosion and temperature extremes.

☀️ Once established, this Southeastern native handles sunny, dry conditions with ease—making it a perfect low-maintenance team player for local beds and borders.

Welcoming native plants like Barbara's Buttons into our shared space is a simple, meaningful way to practice good stewardship and ensure our local pollinators always have a sanctuary.

Calling all truck owners & shovelers! 🚚🪵

We have an opportunity to collect a fresh batch of woodchips generously offered by a local neighbor! These woodchips will serve as the protective mulch layer for our native garden beds, locking in soil moisture and suppressing weeds for our upcoming plantings.

We need a few extra hands (and truck beds!) to help load and haul them over to the church campus.

The Details: 🗓️ When: Monday, 10/19/2026 from 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM

📍 Location: Meeting at Trinity. and the traveling to the site to load, then hauling to Trinity UMC

🛠️ What to Bring: Work gloves, pitchforks, or shovels if you have them! (We will also have extra tools on hand.)

How You Can Help: • 🚛 Haulers: Have a pickup truck or trailer? We’d love your help carrying loads!

• 🧹 Loaders: Got a shovel, pitchfork, and a bit of muscle? We need help scooping and loading!

Whether you can stay for 30 minutes or the full two hours, every shovel load makes a huge difference.
