Following a detailed weather briefing from the National Weather Service this afternoon, Baldwin County is at Enhanced Risk for hazardous weather. Forecasts indicate the potential for sustained wind gusts exceeding 40 mph. These conditions fall outside the safety parameters for our school bus fleet, as high winds pose a significant tipping risk for high-profile vehicles. Also, the long-range timing of this front, combined with the potential for discrete supercell development, creates a window of danger that spans the entire school day.
To limit travel for our students, employees, and families during these peak hours of risk, the district will transition to a Remote Learning Day for tomorrow, Monday, March 16.
While our physical buildings will be closed, we want to ensure our students remain academically engaged. Teachers will provide updates in Google and students can log in to the Georgia Online Testing Experience to practice at: https://portal.te.drcedirect.com/GA/gaott
