Fear

Fear of the Lord isn't what it seems to be. In the context of the Bible it means reverence for God, not fear in the usual sense of the word.

Remember each spiritual book, the Bible included, has an idiom of its own. Words have specific meanings within the context of the book.

Reverence for God? We see God everywhere, living a God-centered life, by not giving power to anything or anyone else.

His Business

Like the Unicorn you can't tell God what He must do. We can sometimes fall into the trap of telling God what He must do and how He should do it. We sometimes assume He is here to do our will. God isn't a short order cook.

We ask, in prayer, for solutions. We ask for the knowledge of His will for us and the Power to carry it out.

My daily prayer:

God, place me where I may be of maximum use to You and my fellows, in any way you see fit.

Enjoy this day unless you've made other plans.

The Dead Past

Whenever we bring up the dead past we are only giving life to the dead. Let the dead bury their dead.

When a past mistake, an old resentment or a past failure comes to mind discharge it. There is nothing to be gained in wallowing around in the morbid past.

Only the present has life. We learn our lessons from the past and put it behind us. When these crop up change your thought to the present and the loving presence of God in your life.

Human Nature

While some claim it never changes they may be right but not for the reasons they believe it to be true.

Man's nature, though he may be unaware of it, is that he can bring an unlimited quality of good into his life.

But it does require him to turn himself towards God. And it is by believing in God's care and protection that makes it possible. By thinking in accordance with this belief he fills his life with all that is good in this life.

The spark of the divine dwells within.

Always There

As Emmet Fox says "The Captain is on The Bridge". The One who has all Power and Knowledge is always there. Always in charge regardless of what's going on.

While it may seem that all is going to hell and nothing good is happening, rest assured that God is there. He will take care of you. Turn your attention to God and away from your problems - real or imagined.

Mental Slumber

It is easy to fall into a spiritual rut of repetitive comfort. We risk becoming stagnant and withering.

God’s universe is always expanding. Your spiritual journey must expand as well. There is no time for a spiritual slumber. Today is the day, now is the time.

God's Expectations

We are told that we have the right to expect that God will take care of us in every way. Matthew 7:9-11 spells it out for us.

God expects us to put Him first in our hearts. We should have a lively faith in the goodness of God we have come to rely upon.

Always go to God in faith and in prayer.

Now is the time

Most of us will wait until we are in the midst of great difficulties before we reach out to God. While better than not it is always better to reach out to God before it happens.

Now is the time of salvation, now is the accepted time.

Place yourself in God's hands through Daily Prayer and meditation. Step 11 isn't for extra credit. You will receive the serenity and poise that only God can give us.

Divine Love

It never fails. It is a theme repeated in metaphysical literature all the time.

But to demonstrate that fact one must recognize that Divine Love isn't an outside force. Love exists in our own hearts. It is only there that it really exists for us.

Fill your own heart with love. You do this by thinking it, feeling it, and expressing it. When this sense of Love is vivid enough it will heal you and solve your problems.

Dwelling

The plain represents negative thought. While the occasional negative thought isn't at issue when we dwell upon the plain of negativity the trouble will come.

Habitual wrong thinking, false beliefs long entertained build the idea of self sufficiency. We place reliance upon ourselves instead of God.

We must center our lives on God. Until we do only fear and chaos will come.
