Waianae Protestant Church The Wai'anae Protestant Church was founded in 1841 to serve the native Hawaiians who lived in the ar This is the oldest church building on the Wai'anae Coast.

The following is taken from Westside newspaper who covered the church's 150th anniversary in December 1973:

"It began as a one room, simple wooden structure constructed in 1842. Today, the Wai'anae Protestant Church, located on Mill Street, is just one year away from celebrating their 150th anniversary, making it one of the oldest churches on the Wai'anae Coast. The Hawaiian name first given to t

his church was "Kahikolu" which translates to mean Trinity...
The present structure housing this church was built in 1913. Details and plans of the construction work were lost to fire in the 1930's. Members say that the building was designed by a Hawaiian architect and constructed by Hawaiian carpenters. Hawaiian people in the islands were also the most generous contributors of funds to help complete the building. The floor of the building is slanted, similar to a movie theater, so that all visitors have a clear view of the alter. And, what an altar it is. It is constructed of beautiful koa wood believed to have been brought in from the Kona District.." On October 2013, the church celebrated its 172nd anniversary with a ho'ike, a dedication for the Harry B. Robins building, and a Hawaiian lu'au. We welcome you to join us every Sunday for Sunday school at 9:30am, service at 11:00am, and Tuesday evenings for bible study.
